For a rebuilding team, this confuses me. If a 26 year old D, who's had his fair share of struggles, was available at the cost of a 2nd and 4th, Vancouver would have never been interested.

Not to mention, the 3ish years of development could produce another ELC player off those picks, in a time where Bo/Boeser are entering their prime. I am convinced the Canucks shortsightedness will create the Oilers, barring some great drafting/development. Oilers wasted the Drai/McJesus ELC's, and now that they need good young players on ELCs they dont have those either

I think that is very obvious, but again speaks to the shortsightedness of it all. The backlash would have lasted at most until the draft, where the picks would have been used and everyone gets excited about Player X and Player Y.

Beyond then, it would be the same little comments about losing McCann that we already do, but there would at least be future potential attached to it

The die hard fans don't see that. The Canuck's approval rating based on JB's actions at the TDL & Draft will be a reflection of this summers seat package sales.

saw a crazy stat posted yesterday because people were comparing the Bruins "re-tool" vs Canucks "re-tool" since 2011. Bruins have had 17 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft. Canucks have had 12. Since 2008 they have had 23, we have had 16.

exactly. while there is debate on a couple of the picks, the regime's drafting has been good.

it's frustrating that the team won't focus on where they've garnered their most success in the last few seasons and add as many picks as possible.
