They'll still draft a QB early. Tyrod is the stop gap. If we can't get a good price for a vet, why not?!
- RhinoFan

I have no problem keeping him, I'm not in favor to trade up, cost is too high. We should get 5 quality starters out of this draft.

Makes sense with Mittsey, I do like that they've had him play both sides on the PP in school though.

With Reinhart locked up and hopefully a 2nd line winger in Nylander, IMO we don't need help on RW as much as other places. Honestly, I think a half way decent defense could improve our forward ranks dramatically.

- RhinoFan

Not me..I think we need all the help we can get. Nylander is not a lock and we are about to lose kane. We need at least 2 top 6 players if we want to win any games next year

Id try and make something work with Calgary re: kane

See if you can pry one of their young defenders if Botts is willing to take on Stone's deal.

2 top 6 guys

2 top 4 defenders

stable goaltending.

Too many holes to set high expectations for next year.

Exactly

I have been saying this for a while, the cost between cutting Tyrod and then signing a veteran to hold down the fort would be the same if not higher than letting Tyrod battle it out with a rookie.

I also agree with you

Draft one at 21 and then build the roster with the other picks.

There are too many holes on this team, yes QB is one of them but the cost to move up is going to cost the first 3 picks the Bills have this year and probably a first next year as well.

Hey, i never said i didnt want sprong. Trade for him rigt (frank)ing now if you want. Just that my only hold up is that he is a rw. Okposo, baptiste, pu, bailey, olofsson, hopefully svech or zadina. All are rw, pu is a center but would play rw if he gets moved to the wing. Kane is gone from the left, nylander might be a lw, thats about it. Lw is definitely a bigger need than rw. Thats all i was saying.

I should phrase it differently...

It's not that he can't find the pieces or doesn't already have them, time is his enemy if he tries to hard to manipulate it.

Even with a lottery win, you're asking a bunch of 18,19,20 year olds to be the difference between bottom feeder and playoff bound. It's a tall ask for a bunch of rookies.

They're going to shed all of the dead weight by the end of the lockout and be in a position to do what they did last time there was a full year lockout.

Totally agree we need some serious help to contend for a cup. Nylander hasn't developed on the same pace as what was expected, so again, fair comment.

I just think that the assets we trade away would be better served getting defenders. RW, we aren't set by any means, but with Okposo, Reinhart, Nylander and some depth players in Bailey and Baptiste on the way, I think we're better off there.

Yea I hear you. I guess my point is that non are slam dunks and we dont have Svech or Zadina yet. So until someone emerges as a stud, I want to add as many high skill players as I can regardless of position.

I'm sure many will disagree, but I think he's top-9 right now. We haven't even seen him with a real top-9 center yet, either

Yea im not calling for playoffs next year. I do however expect a more watchable team if you replace Pouliot, larsson, Josefson, Nolan, kane with a Baptiste, Erod, Wilson, Mittelstadt, Guhle Ect..

Kane for Bennett

That way we have both Sams at the end of the day and the argument of the 2014 draft ends once and for all.....

I would rank it more like:

Defense
Top six players
.
.
.
Goaltending

I dont want to trade assets for any forwards that dont have at least top 6 potential. Preferably i want a top line potential player

Sprong is a mid 2nd rounder from 2015 who has played extremely well for the WS Pens. His development curve is right on track. If Botts gets him, he knows him better than any other GM other than JR. That would be a solid trade. Seeing the minor pieces and picks to balance the trade will really tell you what each team thinks of Sprong.
