According to this, it is 13th oldest

https://en.wikipedia.org/...onal_Hockey_League_arenas

Closer to the middle than not.

- buffalofan19

After the Saddledome is torn down though, the oldest arena will be from 1993 - 3 years before KBC

Edit: excluding MSG

1968 - MSG - which underwent a massive 3 year renovation about 5 or 6 years ago.

I have to think KBC can be renovated. If New Era Field can, KBC can.

They renovate the arena and the team at the same time, rip it all down.

No doubt, especially with the harbor center being there, the location is not gonna move. But in 5-10 years, it'll need a major renovation. Not just seats and cup holders, but probably structural changes to improve the flow and just generally modernize. The cinder block walls - while functional - are depressing

the arena in buffalo is the last issue IMO with this franchise

It might be the only way they can justify ticket price increases.

the sabres had it right after the lockout regarding the overall game experience

during the 12 years of sucking, they let the good things slip away

they need to take a lesson from how tampa runs it now

Can't embed video on my phone, but this is a link to the TSN 13-minute video "The Mystery of Paul Ranger." It's a terrific look at depression in hockey. Not sure if this has been posted before

Here's another one - about Clint Malarchuk fighting depression:

I'll warn you boys - this is an extremely tough read.

Like, franking brutal.

I think it's what the fans say they want. Their number 1 request is "free stuff" and number 2 is family atmosphere. Then they, and the media, complain about a boring atmosphere. Well, you didn't want little timmy to hear a cuss word, so you got the PG version of a hockey experience.

I've been with someone who got yelled at for swearing at a game before - not an F bomb - by a parent with a little kid. Meanwhile nic Deslaurier is trying to pound the face off somebody, which is totally fine

This.

These kids these days with this sh!t "pop" music. It's garbage. Eff the next generation. Everybody likes rock. It doesn't have to be (frank)ing Slayer, but play some hard rock, too. Get the arena pumping. Their PP song should be Creeping Death or something. Their goal song, make it Live Wire from Motley Crue. (just spitballing here, but you get my drift).

New state of the art stadium/arena, it’ll take up 40% of downtown.

Also In the project is a new subway system that goes from downtown-airport-niagara falls.

- washedup20

Nashville is trying to do something like this also...
They need to do more to get people from out of town into town and vice versa.
Right now the train goes from Lebanon, TN to downtown Nashville and back.
It needs to branch out to Brentwood, Franklin, West Nashville, East Nashville, etc...
Traffic is awful here. Soon we will be just like Atlanta.

Kids shouldn't have to hear swearing at a sabres game. When you have kids, you will understand. That's why I do not bring my son to the bills games.

You sign up for what goes on (on the ice) when you purchase the ticket

No joke, they played "castle on a hill" by Ed Sheeran at the game I went to against Tampa. If you're not familiar, it's a soft-rock craptastic twee song. This isn't intermission, this is before a faceoff

I absolutely hate the in game presentation. Kim and Terry love to shove "family friendly" and it franking sucks. The kiss cam, pee wee hockey and lame trivia games by Lauren Hall need to stop. Take a note from NBA games
