Besides the known incidents I've seen stuff like twitter pics of him rubbing his face with big wads of money... That's pretty douchey... And that's not very hockey playerish IMO... More so NBAish

Johnny Manzel comes to mind.

Because I personally believe that Hornqvist is the priority and if the Pens do pick up Brassard, they have the following UFA and FAs that I expect them to extens:

Cole
Rust
Oleksiak
Sheahan (regardless of Brass)
Jarry
Simon

That will take up a good chunk of space. Now, if the Pens feel they’re done with Horn, then I could see them pursuing Kane.

- Rinosaur

Cole is walking. There is a 90% chance Hornqvist is walking. Oleksiak and Simon should get bridged. Rust and Sheahan will get solid extensions.

You might be the only person here that is running off the assumption we're resigning Hornqvist. Its been reported all season long that there is no movement on the extension front and objectively it would be dumb to give him the pay day he's about to get given his age.

That would be 2 out of 2 locker rooms. I have no idea if he's truly an ass, but It makes you wonder. If the Pens bring him here, they better be sure he won't make it 3 for 3.

Nobody here complained when Sprong injured Hunwick right before he got sent down.

I'd say GMJR wants to give him 5 mill for 2 or 3 years and he wants more term.

All indications are they want to sign Hornqvist, they just aren't sure they can fit him. He also wants to at least see what offers he gets. Probably depends on the cap, but I'd say it's realistic they bring him back. We as fans don't think it's a smart move, but they really value him.

I highly doubt Horny is going anywhere this year. Who knows in the off-season but for this run in no way do I see Ruth moving him. Ruth wants Brassard, he's gonna try like hell for him, if not he's got his backup plans.

Like I said, I don't know the specifics of what happened in Buffalo, but I seem to remember another teammate calling him out for being selfish and said some other things. Players know accidents happen. It's much easier to forgive a guy if he's a "good guy". It's more difficult to forgive a guy if you think he's a selfish ass hat.

For what it's worth, I think Rutherford is going to give him a contract that most will hate in year 3.

I'd say better than the 90% odds, but just my opinion. Think it's more likely than Kane. Think it really depends on the cap number.

Also depends on what happens before this deadline, if we get Brassard or some other center with term and have the center set for next season, Ruth can worry about wingers/Horny first if not then I'd say he has to make center his first priority come the off-season.

Not necessarily. If Sheahan keeps the job and has a good playoff then he'd be the 3C.

But trading for Brassard would certainly change what they have to pay a wing, I'll agree with that.

I know it's a stretch but the Sedin twins haven't won a Cup... that would solve C and LW. Lol..
- hipcheck_goalie

Depending on what they are looking for money wise.. I honestly don't think it's a stretch.

I may have been generous to Sheahan and possibly Oleksiak.

Not trying to be a dyck, but I'm not sure how you're quantifying that 90%.

Now, I've read the reports they haven't been able to strike a deal, but that doesn't mean they won't. It's pretty common that players don't re-sign in the beginning of their final season and then finally do in the off-season. It's also common not to continue the talks during the meat of the season.

If the Pens go deep in the playoffs, despite Hornqvist already winning the cup, having another great season can do a lot for a player's decision.

EDIT: I don't think Cole is walking if they move Hunwick.

He's not going anywhere this year. If they followed through with their shake-up that didn't happen, I could have seen him going. Now? No way.

Oleksiak and Sheahan are tough for me to pin down since they improved so much mid-season. Hoping we get good rates on both and the improvements are lasting.

I think the Pens could get away with around $2.5M/$2.75M over three years for Sheahan.

Oleksiak is harder to gauge, but I think they can get him for no more than $2M a year. Probably similar to the Cole situation when they picked him up.

True, I still would like Ruth to get a center in the off-season if we don't have 4 to go into next season. It wouldn't be as bad as the beginning of this year(Sid,Geno,Rowney, Mckegg)🤯 but would like to avoid that situation.

Not by any means what I REALLY think they're going to sign for, but I do think the Pens could make a competitive offer if they are interested and the money is in the 3-4.5 per year range.

I agree I don't think they start the year with Rowney as the 4C. But that isn't an expensive fix.

I wouldn't be surprised after seeing the LA Coyote trade the Pens go after Domi and get Domi for cheap.

I gotta say, If I were an aging vet whose career earnings were 70+ mil, I'd definitely look for that kind of opportunity.
