the longer GMJR goes without making a splash leads me to think it will be somebody completely off the radar no one predicted
- Pukeboy768

Hes just suring up support from the local Pittsburgh community & councils to get permission for ROR. There's some protective bollards going up outside certain establishments negotiated to be paid for by the collective alcoholic beverage distributitors in town. Apparently his contract in the Burgh will have him drive a Toyota Prius.

The fact no major moves have been made IMO shows that the buyers are not going to let the sellers dictate anything.

I don’t think we see any moves until the day before the deadline at the earliest.

Quick little story there:

She has 2 stuffed puppies that she likes more than any other ones. She told me that one of them, Toby, was a Rangers fan. I told Toby that if he didn't change his tune, he was going to get a Hulk Hogan-style leg drop. Well, Toby didn't, so daddy had to give Toby a leg drop. Now, whenever she sees the Rangers, she says to him, "Toby, don't like the Rangers or you're getting a leg drop."

It's just good parenting.

Lol, you're probably destined to have a Ranger fan as your son-in-law.

I'd hold onto Hornqvist. Yes, he's walking at the end of the year, but having him in your lineup for this postseason gives you the best chance on winning unless you can flip him for a clear positional upgrade.
- jmatchett383

You have to give something to get and if I’m going to lose him anyways then we more than enough wingers that can slot in. That move might finally get Sprong onto the team permanently. The only reason he’s not already is because of the RW log jam. If he had 20-30 consecutive games he would have 8-11 goals by now.

kane (50% retained) for sheary, sprong and a 1st.
- Pukeboy768

I keep hearing more and more Kane's value is dropping because other wingers are available. I wouldn't be surprised if he was had for Sheary and a 1st. Also if I was taking a winger it would be him. He's young he's fast he can shoot fight check and play on the PK if needed. Also when I had the opportunity to sit with Bill Guerin earlier in the year he said that stuff with Kane being a locker room cancer was overblown (they also said Kessel was in Toronto and clearly he isn't). I see another superstar winger being great to have. I know many of you talked about Sid not being happy about his wingers. They could afford a center and Kane. I think we will try to make as many upgrades at positions that we can make without breaking the bank. Wouldn't even be surprised if he added another cheap defenseman option. I think the price of Brassard might be too high especially with multiple teams bidding for him.

I read about Penguins having Hunswick for soderburg as one trade option or a lower prospect plus a pick for plekanic. Both options seem like sneaky good moves for little.

Sprong is not on the roster while Hornqvist is injured, so he wouldn't be if Hornqvist was traded.

The other wings, except maybe ZAR who has a very small sample, are nothing like Hornqvist though. His effect on the PP alone is enough to keep him through the year, not to mention he's one of the team's few core leaders.

Contenders don't dump UFAs who can help them that year.

Problem is we have approx 700k in cap space. If Hunwick goes then that frees up some but we can't get players with picks & prospects if they have a reasonable cap hit. Actually the below has us at over 1.5m currently?? So that's great!

Brassard has a 1.2m cap hit currently.

Kane has had almost no production lately, so why are we giving so much to get so little? I'm a big Kane fan but his value is in production which has been absent. I reluctantly dropped him in my fantasy league and haven't looked back

He's the perfect fit for Sid... I would bet he ends up here this summer... he has to reestablish his value and what better place than the best C in the league?

There's no way on this blue planet they're trading Hornqvist. Sullivan would probably rather lose an arm than lose Hornie.

I’m willing to bet anything that Kane finally winds up in Vancouver this summer.

I don't see the fit from Van's perspective and you gotta think Kane is tired of playing for rebuilding teams. I think he'll go to the team that offers him the most money but is also the closest thing to a contender. I think there will be suiters out there that can match the AAV Van is willing to throw out while still being closer to contention, us included.

Jokes aside, I think Vegas will be very much in play for Kane.

I don't know the specifics, but didn't Kane have another run-in with a teammate?

Regardless, I think the chances he winds up on the Pens are very low.

I know it's a stretch but the Sedin twins haven't won a Cup... that would solve C and LW. Lol..

I don't see why we're dismissing this. We'd have the cap space to field a competitive offer and GMJR has stated that both he and Sullivan like his game a lot. I wouldn't at all be surprised if we pursued him heavily this offseason.

Because I personally believe that Hornqvist is the priority and if the Pens do pick up Brassard, they have the following UFA and FAs that I expect them to extens:

Cole
Rust
Oleksiak
Sheahan (regardless of Brass)
Jarry
Simon

That will take up a good chunk of space. Now, if the Pens feel they’re done with Horn, then I could see them pursuing Kane.

Yeah, it was after he injured a different teammate with a hit in practice.

That would be 2 out of 2 locker rooms. I have no idea if he's truly an ass, but It makes you wonder. If the Pens bring him here, they better be sure he won't make it 3 for 3.

Besides the known incidents I've seen stuff like twitter pics of him rubbing his face with big wads of money... That's pretty douchey... And that's not very hockey playerish IMO... More so NBAish
