Is DB's cap hit 5m of 3.5m? I thought I saw somewhere it was $3.5mil. If so Sheary and Khun would be enough. Not for Ottawa but for Cap.
- Thorny87

It's 5.

His cap hit is 5M but his real salary is 3.5M. Contract was front-loaded.

How about the rumors that Ottawa is asking for teams to take Ryan if they want Karlsson. How would that even be possible.

I think moving Sheary would get them close if not there. Hunwick probably isn't enough. I guy like Kuhnhackl would make sense to dump for a little room.
- Tojo.

To further this, we currently have 1.77M available in cap space meaning we need to clear 3.23M sone if this can come by sending a player down (ZAR for instance has a 925k hit). Sending ZAR down and trading Kuhnhackl for a late pick would clear 1.55M in itself and still leave the team with 12 forwards pre-trade giving us 3.32M in deadline space. Now if you ship out Hunwick or if Sheary is involved you can make the trade fit.

They’re offering it, not making it a must. They’d accept far less if they’d take Ryan.

Sens (or whoever they trade with, if they even trade with anyone)could always retain a bit too if the Pens throw in a pick or picks...

This is part of why I'm glad there's no NHLers in the Olympics. I love that it's amateurs and you can't predict what will happen.

I’m not emotionally invested in any of these armatures or old people so I can’t agree.

They could send Simon down too. He's waiver exempt.

I'm pretty ignorant to how the salary cap works, but I thought there was a conversation on here about the cap hit for players is prorated. For instance, capfriendly has Brassard's remaining cap hit of 1.15mil. If that's the case, we could fit him pretty easily.

In reality that means hes a $5M player for Pens (where cap matters) and a $3.5M player for OTT (who only cares about real dollars)

JR said we had ~$800k in space a few weeks ago. Factor in a player like Simon being sent down and that's enough already to fit Brassard. Sounds too good to be true so maybe that's not the correct interpretation lol.

Moreover, in Brassard's case, we also need to consider next season and would make it impossible to retain Hornqvist (if that was even a possibility to begin with)

They could send Simon down. I'm assuming they at least leave room for 13 forwards which is what I went down to. But it's doable. I can't believe Sheary's stock is so low they can't trade him anywhere. I'm more concerned with the cost as I'd prefer not to trade a 1st and Sprong. A 1st and Gustavsson I'd do.

Sending Blueger down added 700k and space accumulates a little each day.
