If they're gonna trade him just do it and get it over with. - forbetterorWORSE
Agreed. And make sure you DON’T trade him to the Oilers. |

I'd just like to point out that completely throwing in the towel like Toronto did seemed to work out pretty well. - Atomic Wedgie
Yeah that was a rare case of a trade working out for both teams, TOR was able to get as bad as possible in order to land Matthews, and PIT got a key piece in two more cup wins (with salary retained by TOR nonetheless).Leafs are definitely trending the right way, but with the way that the lottery works now, plus the fact that there may not be any Matthews type players coming up soon, I don't think OTT can afford to trade Karlsson for assets that won't be useful anytime soon. (Not to mention that it is is now impossible to finish below ARI and BUF in the standings, as they seem to be perpetually tanking.) |

Yeah, that "Winnipeg fan" thinks Karlsson is the best player in the league.
So, context. - Aetherial
The general consensus from pretty much every analyst and expert is that he's a top 3 player I the league.......but please, keep trolling, you're doing great. |

I'm seriously stunned in the amount of ridiculous comments about Karlsson possibly regressing and not being the same player he was if a team were to get him.
Yes, he hasn't been playing his best
But the whole team has been awful...understatement
Atrocious.
People need to stop getting caught up in the "highlights" on tsn and espn. They show his giveaways, but not the explosiveness, vision and impact he has every shift.
I personally don't want to see Karlsson gone.
I also just don't think there's a realistic/big enough return for him.

I love Ehlers, but Karlsson is the best player in the league. I would be inclined to do this move. - TheUltimateJet
No way. Ehlers is 20 and unreal. A 6 year contract at 6M AAV....... I could see trouba, a first, dano (if anyone actually wants him), and one of the many great prospects with the moose, but not Ehlers. If you have Buff and Karlsson on the same team, your talking about an absolute shootout every game. |

Nobody is getting karlsson without giving up a premier player......without ehlers there is no way a deal with the jets would happen.
It's kind of a pointless debate anyways, I highly doubt Winnipeg is on his list of 10 teams |

Trading Karlsson is stupid idea period.
Unless he return is something we would be dumb to say no too and even then I doubt fans would forgive PD - Maverick1818
What if the Sens know he is not resigning? |

To Tampa:
Erik Karlsson
Bobby Ryan [5.8m]
+ Burrows/Oduya
+ Minor goalie
To Ottawa
Mikhail Sergachev
Cal Foote
Connor Ingram
2018 1st & 2019 2nd condition* (cup win > 1st)
+ Callahan/Sustr
Sens save 14m over 4yrs just with the Callahan & Ryan swap; restock. TB dumps Callahan; Ryan will do very well out of a Canadian market and playing on a good team. Also won't have 7.25 cap hit following him.
Hedman - Karlsson would be the best pair since Niedermyer Pronger |

A few days ago I would have said that's bs, but its very true.... something has happened and seems like Sens and Karlsson are having different views. |

Isn't a 10 team no trade list?
Trouba and ehlers are 2 premiere players? But i'm starting to get on board with one premiere young player coming back to you guys. |

callahan has a full NMC. just best to take ryan out of the equation if the sens really want a deal done. |

i'm starting to think it's fine for TB to include sergachev. TB should only be worried about winning cups with stamkos/hedman/kucherov right now.
karlsson & pageau for johnson, sergachev, howden, 1st and 2nd
if you want to dump some salary, include burrows and cancel the 2nd. |

^^^ This.
I am assuming (hoping!) that PD knows whether or not Karlsson wants to/is likely to resign here, if not then he has to be traded, and the assumption is that there would be fewer suitors this season, but they would pay more due to getting two Cup runs. Either way, PD has a tough job ahead. |

That is a very good point.
Honestly guys, Ottawa is much better off trading him and having the incoming assets and cap space for the future. |
