This is the wrong thread to be throwing nonsense around like that. Take the Leafs for example. They have nice young players but they're guaranteed to lose to every team in the playoffs and probably require another complete rebuild before they're able to compete for the Prince of Wales trophy.

So, the 2011 Boston Bruins are winning it again this year?

If done properly, it doesn't take 8 years to turn a franchise around.

But to answer your question, they're gonna keep him forever.... which is a bad contract to own overall but it's not like having him in goal for the next 8 years will be something I'm mad about.

- Scabeh

Not sure how happy he will be.

They have 5 players from when they won so it still counts

The Blackhawks have 8 players from when they won but the supporting cast is different so it dosnt count

If the Leafs get Boston in the 1st round I really really really hope they utilize the most obvious strategy.... piss of Rask. Rattled Rask = Bad Rask.

There were times last night where he was skating with the puck and I honestly mistook him for Matthews (#24 vs #34).

Marner also looked phenomenal at times - so nifty with the puck.

I like JVR. I'm happy with keeping JVR for the playoffs.

But if we could trade him for his equivalent talent at defence, I'd pull the trigger.

Kapanen is obviously a very different player than JVR, but I think if we could improve our back end, you could move Kapanen up and we'd be better off overall.

I'm just going to leave it up to Lou, and trust he does the right thing.

I'd love Karlsson on this team.
Although I love Tavares, Karlsson would probably more of an add to the team than Tavares.

Not sure who could be Karlsson's parnter on D though - maybe Dermott most fit going forward?

- MaximusAurelius

can't agree

Tavares would be awesome.

Karlsson would be a disaster.

My fear isn't that Karlsson stays at his current level.

My fear is that he's going to keep deteriorating.

Rebuilt left achilles tendon.

Rebuilt right ankle, which is at risk of being rebroken any time:

"They took half of my ankle bone out and the part that is still there should be as normal possible,” Karlsson revealed.

The Sens defenceman – who finished second in the NHL with 201 blocked shots last season – was asked if taking a puck to the ankle could cause further damage.

“If you get a shot there, there’s always a risk of you breaking it – whether it’s the same ankle or something else,” he said. “But it’s not something I’m worried about. Hopefully I can block a little bit different.”

https://www.tsn.ca/karlss...out-ankle-injury-1.868641

My big fear is that once you start breaking down, your body compensates, which can cause further problems.

Ottawa won't give any type of discount due to his injury history.

For those reasons, I don't think it's worth the risk.

JMHO

I honestly can't believe more people don't see this. Making that trade could end up sinking your team for 9 years if you double down and re-sign him.

Does anyone believe he will be anywhere near his peak, even 2 years from now. Hell, we have no evidence he can even be the same guy again.

Besides all of that... do we want a dman who plays like a 4th forward. Think about how Gardiner looks out there. Imagine more of that, at least once or twice a game. It would be brutal.

Ottawa needs to get the best haul they can, and move on.

All it takes is one stupid GM.

No, no, no please no.

Because with Chiarelli at the Edmonton helm I'm afraid what might come back the other way into our division

We don't need that.
