That's another point about McDonaugh. The Leafs would have to think they are in a 2 year window to win. I doubt they could sign him for cheap after next year. He most likely gets 6.5 or 7 in free agency. I'm unsure if the Leafs consider themselves contenders this season but they might for next season.

So if they offered anything it would be on the low end and see if the Rags accept.
