It's two-fold;

Trading Alex Steen, along with Robbie Earl only getting to play in 9 games with the Leafs.. It's a little known fact that Robbie would have excelled once he hit the 11 game mark, but Leafs management wasn't patient with him.. That put us years behind schedule
