With the amount of shots they give up a game and how much they rely on Andersen to bail them out when they're playing like poop, yes, it would be a massive upset. - Unholy_Goalie
They do play differently in the playoffs.
Could there be a miracle and they keep the shots down to let's say 20 with maybe 3 scoring chances for the other team. |

What is it exactly that makes you think, or maybe I should say know. That the Bruins are SO much better than the Leafs? and why it would be such a massive upset if the Leafs were to win the series?
Leaving the standings (irrelevant anyways) and playoff style hockey (which hasn't won the Preds anything to this date) out of your answer. - LeafGuy89[/quote
We've only beaten the Bruins 6 of the last 7 games head to head. So, we have no chance. Because ...reasons

The 6th place team can’t possibly beat the top 2 teams. Nah. Tank and rebuild. - Steven_Seagull
doesn't that imply selling off players to get picks? I'd love to know - from the really smart people in here - which players they should sell off - that will get back the kind of picks needed to get elite/generational/super-duper players?...
... cause I'm always left thinking that the Leafs players aren't any good... you know like Anders7n can't possibly be as good as say... Rask... and then why does Boston need a good goalie if they are so good and play the right way? that's never clear to me...
and isn't Vaselievski(sp?) one of the best goalies in the league right now? but why does he need to be so good - if Tampa is so good? I clearly don't understand.
so .. is it even possible - that those teams are exceeding because they have great goaltending? is that even possible? |

The Bruins are playing better than the Leafs; all the underlying stats say so and obviously so does their record.
But it is hockey and a hot goalie can make up for a lot of deficiencies, so while I think a Leafs win over BOS in a 7 game series would be an upset, not massively so; we're not just squeaking in here on a wing and prayer: we've been playing pretty decent hockey too, just not nearly as dominant as BOS has played.
I'd honestly rather play the Bolts in the first round though. - gravyface
If Andersen is the hot goalie, why can't Rask or Vasilevskiy be the hot goalie?
Tampa Bay plays more open than the Bruins do so that match-up probably would be easier for our forwards to score goals but Tampa Bay's forwards literally lead the league in scoring so they'd probably tear the Leafs D to shreds. Neither match-up is a good one. |

go for it with assets that are not pure rentals, kids need to gain playoffs experience and McDonut would be a great general for the Leafs D |

Never said they couldn't. For the record, I don't think the Leafs will beat BOS in a round 1 matchup, with BOS having home ice advantage. But I don't think it'll be a 4-0 sweep either. I could see it going to 6 or 7 games. |

Yeah. It was a nice idea. Thinking that a team that is 6th overall would have any sort of chance at the Cup.
Wonder if we can package Matthews and Nylander to Arizona and really start over... again. |

This same team, with less experience, without Marleau, and Hainsey, with a not-as-good Anderson, and very likely without as good a season behind them took the Presidents trophy winners to 6 games with 5 OT games.
So a better team this year, beating anyone is not a massive upset. Upset? yeah, maybe.
