It would be a massive upset.

For the 6th overall team to beat the 2nd overall team? I see.

It's always been both but it's cute of you to act like it's new.

Toronto beating Boston would not be a massive upset.

I don't believe Toronto has enough Defense or experience to win the cup this year, but Toronto beating anyone would not be a massive upset.

well .... there goes yet another thread.

must have got the homework done early tonight... to watch replays of the 2013 Game 7 playoff loss.

quite amazing that that series was so close... I mean an argument could be made that the Leafs deserved to win that ... if they had gotten even a bit of officiating tilted in their favor.

actually, they should have just conceded ... I mean the Bruins won the cup in 2011.. so why bother.

Or maybe the fact that the Nashville top 4 D were very strong and their forwards play good two-way hockey. Rinne can't score goals.
- Unholy_Goalie

(frank), I wish the Leafs could score goals.

We can't score and our goalie is always tired. Frankly, I am surprised we are even in a playoff spot at this point of the season

With the amount of shots they give up a game and how much they rely on Andersen to bail them out when they're playing like poop, yes, it would be a massive upset.

It's only because of the weak division. Otherwise we'd be a lottery team. It'll be 5 years before we play the Right Way.

In four game, yes. it's a 7 games series and they almost did last time and were about to, except for 8~10 minutes of the 3rd period.

Don't bother, Leafs already beat the Bruins, the Lightning, the Penguins and every team in the West just for fun for the Cup. (This is the game they like to play).

The 6th place team can’t possibly beat the top 2 teams. Nah. Tank and rebuild.

What is it exactly that makes you think, or maybe I should say know. That the Bruins are SO much better than the Leafs? and why it would be such a massive upset if the Leafs were to win the series?

Leaving the standings (irrelevant anyways) and playoff style hockey (which hasn't won the Preds anything to this date) out of your answer.

I think leafs should go all in on Eric Karlsson
He’s Paul Coffey2

Leafs are one team that are loaded with prospects that can make this happen.

CORE

KARLSSON
NYLANDER*AND OR MARNER*
ANDERSON
MATTHEWS
HYMAN
REILLY
ZAITSEV
DERMOTT*
KADRI
MARLEAU
BROWN
KAPANEN*

Any could be part of Trade
Leafs still have a lot of prospects in ahl and in Europe that could join leafs

Didn’t mention jvr and bozak as we don’t know outcome tdl—long term may not be part of core

The Bruins are playing better than the Leafs; all the underlying stats say so and obviously so does their record.

But it is hockey and a hot goalie can make up for a lot of deficiencies, so while I think a Leafs win over BOS in a 7 game series would be an upset, not massively so; we're not just squeaking in here on a wing and prayer: we've been playing pretty decent hockey too, just not nearly as dominant as BOS has played.

I'd honestly rather play the Bolts in the first round though.

Ask yourself the same question about the Leafs who have very little playoff experience, rely too much on Andersen to make 40+ saves, have weak D, weak defensive game overall, give up too many shots and don't play strong possession hockey.

The Predators didn't win but they upset a lot of teams and went far in the playoffs because of their style of play so if you want to dream about the Leafs being the team that upsets the #1 and #2 teams in the league, that's the style they would have to play, like the LA Kings did.
