Great win! As Giroux goes, the team goes. This team seems to live and die by its Captain. Hextall deserves a lot of credit for moving him to the wing but without G being the hardest worker on the ice, we're dead in the water. - SuperSchennBros
This may be late, but it was the coaches decision, not Hextall's, to move G to wing.

Don't look now but the Blues hold wildcard 1 spot with 72 points, Minnesota 1 point behind in WC2 spot, Anaheim also with 71 points, Calgary 69 and Colorado at 68. - nastyflyergirl

I’m good with either. Morgan Frost, plus another 1st and potentially another 3rd. Thanks Brayden! - Flyers1218
Brayden Schenn, the gift that keeps on giving.
Any reports from practice as to if TK is on the ice (he asked, resigned to getting an answer that he probably won't like) |

Yes, but he won't sit. See, if he was a young player, he'd be sat because he would need to learn to be better.
But since he's a veteran and can't learn to be better, he gets to keep playing even though he will keep making the same mistakes over and over.
Does this logic fail anyone else? - jmatchett383
Are you questioning the coach? You better watch out a certain someone is gonna learn you all about Captain Stoic and his greatness. |

Does anyone know of a legitimate reason why the Flyers treat injuries like nuclear launch codes?
I don’t buy that it is valuable intelligence that other teams use. Especially in regards to where the actual injury is on the player. |

This isn't totally correct. Hagg had some tough games but Hakstol allowed him to still be in the lineup.
He also allowed konecny to work on his game without scratching him this year. He moved him down the lineup but look how he has been since placed on the first line.
not every player is the same. i think Sanheim needed some time to work on his game. The Flyers are 3 points our of 1st in the metro. I think the coach has earned some leeway with his coaching decisions.
I don't like every thing he does but I can't argue with where they are right now. |

More than anything else, I think Sanheim just needs to put on some muscle and get stronger. He can get away with just using his speed at the AHL level, but in the NHL, there are some big, strong dudes that can also skate. He got knocked off the puck too often and too easy. At this point, let him play big minutes and (hopefully) lead the Phantoms on a deep playoff run. After the season, they need to make sure he hits the gym. If he can put on 10 pounds or so of muscle this summer, there is no reason that he won't be able to step right into the 2nd pairing for the Flyers next year. All the other tools are already there.

And it wasn't just that. He needed to use his stick better. Gostisbehere and Provorov are great at using their stick to defend. Not just being physical. the offensive skills and skating are there.
He has been playing really well down there. i wouldn't be opposed to bringing him up again and seeing if he can upgrade your 3rd pair. If he can you don't need to make a move. But i would at least allow him to play more games before the playoffs, not just throw him into a playoff series. |

I just think he'll get too easily manhandled in NHL playoff action, he really does need to get physically stronger. Then again, a lot depends on usage. In a sheltered 3rd pair, 2nd pp unit role, he'd probably be fine. I do agree that he does need to work on his stick defending and his positional play a bit too. Up until reaching the NHL, he could just rely on his skating ability to pretty much handle anything.

I dont know Hak would throw him into a playoff series without more regular season game time.
I understand what people have been saying about Sanheim, don't disagree with all of it either. But, I don't think he was used to the best of his abilities. He did not get any pp time, despite being the second best pp dman. Provy is no doubt a better all around guy, but Sanheim is a better option on the pp. I'm sure Hak has his reasons not to, but he's put other rookes that haven't proved themselves at the NHL level on the pp, last night for example.

This, a thousand times this. Hence why I don't think he would fare too well if we brought him up for the playoff run and playoffs as some have suggested. He was getting manhandled, especially down low.
10 lbs of muscle and some strength is all he really needs. That isn't even a difficult offseason training regimen, that is like, a just go to the gym three times a week because you are 21 type regimen.
I would however, think about Morin if he remains healthy.

But again look at when the 2nd PP comes out on the ice. Most of the time they finish the PP and then it is even. that is why I don't mind Provorov out there. Because they need to transition to that the even strength play and i want my best defender out there.
If you want Sanheim and Provorov out there ok. but i am not just putting Sanheim alone out there with 4 forwards. |

A real upgrade for the D, which in my opinion is a second pair guy to allow Manning to sit and one of Amac or Hagg to play 3rd pair minutes is going to cost a 1st round pick.
Hexy has a very tough decision.
It’s not something he would have even considered giving up, but their recent play and with the year G and Jake are having I think it’s an option he must be considering now.
A veteran third pair defenseman to replace Manning is going to cost two mid round picks I’m guessing, like a 3rd and a 4th, and you may not improve all that much.
Tough tough call. |

Yeah, true. I'm with you, if he can get healthy and play a couple of weeks of good, solid hockey, I'd give Morin a shot on the 3rd pair over Manning. At the very least, his reach will give him a big advantage and I'm pretty sure he'll have a lot more success than Manning in the fisticuffs dept.
