He’d prob be the first call up, however I would try Weal in Konecny’s spot first. - arichardson22

Improving the % is the next step. The coaching staff didn't want to overwhelm the players.
Seriously though, have the Flyers ever gone three straight games without a powerplay against? - mickel25
No, And I believe I heard that only one other team has ever done it. |

Agreed. I also liked how he went right to the net and was battling a few shifts in a row.
Re: the booing of AMac, that kind of makes me angry. I don't love him by any means but he's been solid. I also don't like the idea of booing your own players. - Ftown19125
Agreed. I was embarrassed at the home opener when a lot of fans booed when he got introduced. |

AMac will never be a competent top-pairing guy that he's been cast as. He'll also never live up to his contract (not his fault that they gave it to him). However, he is a good NHL defenseman that can play in the top-6 of any defense in the league, in a certain role. When you have him playing top-4 minutes with a rookie, he's going to have some issues. If you could slot him in on your 3rd pair and limit his QoC and give him more favorable matchups, those slip-ups would decrease.
As for last night specifically, he had a REALLY ugly play early on where got taken to school by some player I've never heard of and it led to an early Grade A scoring chance. So I can get being frustrated with him. But booing any player on the home team not named Marc Bureau, Billy Tibbets, or Ulf Samuelsson isn't right unless you're doing it at the time of the mistake. |

They have to. the 3rd pair is hurting them and they either need to recall Sanheim, who can play some games before the playoffs, or make a deal for someone. Both guys are struggling in my opinion. So one needs to change.
Like Hextall said, he owes it to this team to give them what they needs as they have worked hard to get into this spot. - J35Bacher
I know it's been beaten to death, kicked into the ground, had cement poured on it and then been fired into the sun, but Manning is not a good NHL defenseman. He just isn't. If they can upgrade him, either internally or externally, without giving up prime assets (B or higher prospects, 3rd or lower round pick), I think they should. |

Why is it always Sweden that seems to get beaten by the throw-away teams at the Olympics (first Belarus, now Germany)? Without the NHL, I figured that the SEL players would make Sweden the easy favorite. |

No he's not. But at this point he is the # 6....I think Sanheim is really close. so we will see.

Don't look now but the Blues hold wildcard 1 spot with 72 points, Minnesota 1 point behind in WC2 spot, Anaheim also with 71 points, Calgary 69 and Colorado at 68. |

Gudas has seemed way more tentative since his suspension and, while I understand it and don't like him taking himself out of position for the big hit, his physical intimidation was a big part of what made him effective. Still, I think he's a legit top-6 NHL defenseman unlike his current partner. But a complete overhaul of the 3rd pair would be preferred. |

I agree-
They need a real second pair, it cant be AMAC and Hagg. I do think if Gudas had a strong partner, he could then just focus on being a stay at home D. Gudas needs someone who can break out the puck so he doesn't think he has too. |

I think the Gudas thing has a lot to do with playing with Manning. Twice (that i can remember off the top of my head, including the Habs go ahead goal) Manning got cooked from inside the neutral zone to the top of the circles. TWICE.
Also, Weise has separated himself from the rest and is now clearly the worst player on the ice for the Flyers.
Two times he had possession of the puck in the O-zone and turned it over resulting in shots off the post the other way. The first one (i believe was the first period) he had the puck and slowly skated it behind their net before the d-man came down and just took it away from him. They ended up rushing the other way, had some extensive zone time, and ripped it off the right post. |

That play where Giroux faked the drop pass, kicked it back to his stick and dropped a beautiful pass on Filppula's stick was awesome. A shame Filppula couldn't finish it. |

They keep ending up on the same side of the ice. Sometimes it’s been Manning’s fault. Other’s Gudas’. Regardless, they are a mess together. |

Aren't there protections on the pick though. If it's top 10 it moves to 2019 |

If it's top 10, the Blues have the option to defer to their 19 first rounder, which would also get us their 20 third rounder. |

That's right.
I knew there was something that if it deferred the Flyers pick up another pick. |

Also, there's the chance that the Blues defer and are actually WORSE next year, in which case we would still get a top-10 pick and a 3rd. |

Yes, but he won't sit. See, if he was a young player, he'd be sat because he would need to learn to be better.
But since he's a veteran and can't learn to be better, he gets to keep playing even though he will keep making the same mistakes over and over.
Does this logic fail anyone else? |

I’m good with either. Morgan Frost, plus another 1st and potentially another 3rd. Thanks Brayden! |
