good stuff, lots of prospects, more will hit - wcorvette
This kid has basically gotten only 5v5 training, which is either super genius or just an oversight. I think it's the former and not by chance.
Either way, I think it bodes well for his future. |

How do you think the Flyers would fare in a 7 games playoff series against a team that could neutralize or limit the Flyers top line? - MJL
I think their forwards are pretty good right now.
If they are healthy they have 2 very good lines and a decent 3rd line. With Filp playing on the 4th line they are pretty deep there.
In the playoffs I think their 2nd and 3rd pair D will not hold up. Goaltending is also a question mark currently. |

I give them a punchers chance in the first round against whoever they face. Washington has proven a bad matchup for them, but I think they are closer.
I think the depth is better, but not where it needs to be. |

Sure, they can win a round or two especially if Mzarek pans out until and if Elliott gets back.
With the current D and PK, winning any playoff round will be amazing. |

Totally agreed.
Love their current run, but I can see the flaws too. They are not deep enough quite yet. |

Oh ye of little faith, lol.
2 of the best defenders in Flyers history were undersized guys: Mark Howe and Kimmo Timonen. You can't teach pure skill and creativity, but everything else is fair game. As long as Ghost was willing to apply himself and work on improving defensively, there was no reason he couldn't succeed at that part of the game as well. - BiggE

I think you have enough in the pipeline that you can risk a little. I dont want an adam oates deal. Something that makes sense. But I think they have earned enough to take some risk. Especially since I think k all the east t3ams have warts. - J35Bacher
A player like Karlsson gives you a variable that most teams don't have. Look at NJ Devils and the Anaheim cup. 2 words. Scotty Neidermeyer. A generational top D man who skates the way he does and sees the game allows teams like the ducks and devils - basically one line teams win cups. |

Yeh I’d rather have Simmonds.
Just think they are a goalie getting hot and a top 4 D man from going on a real run this year. - Marc D

Agree that he used to skate like that...he hasn't been quite the same since his surgery, at least not yet. That is a hell of a lot of risk to give up those kind of assets for an aging player who may have the additional pressure of injury compensation slowing him down.
Personally, I think I'd call Arizona and kick the tires on Hammer for the second pair or give us the ability to split Provy/Ghost. I think he could he be had for Haag, a middling prospect and a 2nd/3rd round pick |

I am not moving Hagg. i know he isn't as sexy as the big name guys like Morin, Sanheim or Myers but I think he is going to be one of the reliable guys that isn't going to make you break the bank in the future.
You say Hagg for Hjarlmsson when really Hagg is a younger version in my eyes.
I would be curious what justin Faulk would cost. I know the canes are in the division but I have seen his name floated before. He is a young vet signed reasonably for 2 more years. Can play heavy minutes and QB a PP.

I dont disagree he's a younger version...just that Haag may be the cost to get an asset like that. Hjarlmsson would allow Gudas to slide up and Amac to slide down to Manning and could help balance the pairs.
I am not thrilled with the idea of moving Haag....it isn't an indictment on his play or potential. I merely postulated it as a way to balance the pairs....get a more advanced version of what Haag brings with more puck control skills. What you lose it what Haag may become....it was more the thought if they really were serious about a run and not just taking the playoffs as they come. |

had the same thought, if you are going to trade one of the blue chip D it has to be Hagg. That said, when Hagg is anchoring the 3rd D pair, you will know the Flyers are ready to contend.

It's been beat to death, but I bring up Sanheim and play him on the second pair before I try to bring in anyone. Plus I don't want to bring in D with any term. I would actually like to move a dman (McD or Gudas) this summer.
Also, I would not split Provy or Ghost at all, they have been one of the best d-pairings in the NHL.

Travis Sanheim update:
15 points in 13 games, 52.67% 5v5 CF,+5.98% CF rel, 55.73% 5v5 SCF, +13 5v5 goal diff, 1.12 average Game Score.
Ridiculous.
Sanheim is not ready for the NHL. |
