I really don't have a problem with it at all. Would have been nice to have gotten him a little cheaper, but it's not a bad contract... It's a fair contract.

Dinger's hand-eye coordination is off the charts, and he has an incredibly hard shot. We lose a little toughness in trading Hunter, but I think Dinger's shot better fits our needs. I think it's a good trade for both teams. Dinger may be a year away from stepping into our lineup, but he's an incredible addition to our prospect pool for sure. Not a bad move by Chia.

Your GM signed him based on a single season and a great playoff... not because of cap space during his contract negotiation. It was an overpayment that had more to do with McDavid's contract and perceived ceiling than market value. Kids a stud but not an 8.5 million dollar stud.
