Glue and cornerstones, this team is being built the same way as Aquilini's condos

You think he has the same value league wide as Kempny/Holden?

What does that say about what JB paid to get him and his new contract?

Either JB really overvalues him or they didn’t really want to trade him.

You can’t have it both ways.

- Nucker101

I do think JB overvalues (pays) them but it does not mean I don't want them on the team. I have not heard one person here say I hope JB can sign him for 4 mil.

Lots of us like him though. Lots don't . He is signed.

Yeah, that’s fine. But I don’t get how people defend this signing by saying they were only getting offered a 3rd or 3rd + scraps.

That means he’s viewed league wide as a bottom pairing dman. Meaning this contract sucks.

It’s more likely that they just flat out wanted to re-sign him instead of trading him for a 2nd or a 2nd + random throw in.

but why not trade him for a couple mid-picks, sign schenn in the offseason and trade him next year for a mid-pick.

small gains, but those extra picks add up. and benning is proving to be half-decent at drafting, so why not play to his strength?

must feel like 2016 all over again.

Gudbranson is better than Schenn

i doubt it was.

maybe a 3rd and a 5th. but take it. sign someone else to take his roster spot and flip that guy into picks.

just keep churning it for another year.

otherwise, 3 years from now you guys are going to wonder why you have a handful of good players, but no organizational depth.

- Tumbleweed

If he was offered a second maybe but I wouldn't move him for a third. I would keep him too

Listening to offers isn’t shopping.

Bob McKenzie

@TSNBobMcKenzie
I don’t believe VAN was/is at all proactive on a Tanev trade but since he’s not likely to play for another three or four weeks, well, that doesn’t encourage potential suitors. Of course, it could be revisited in June if a club is so inclined.

Everyone in here knows Tanev is not being peddled but we all know also when the right offer lands on the desk JB will take it

How many second round picks have been traded league wide in the last month?

He's had tough luck with injuries. Still think he can be in that shutdown role, need his type of size. leadership qualities in the room. haven't seen the best of him yet.

Value can drop. He was a much better player in Florida before coming her. But he also had more injuries here and lost confidence. He has been playing better since regaining it and i think his value will go back up. I think he would have been worth a 2nd+ something small if he was traded.

How many rental trades have there been? I think we can’t count them on one hand. The best is yet to come.

And again, this has nothing to do with my original point. Either he’s viewed league wide as a #5 dman or the Canucks didn’t really want to trade him.

I can’t buy the “this is a good signing because they were only offered a 3rd for him” argument

Yeah, that's the way I see it. JB signed, Guddy signed, sign the twins and Vanek, screw the rebuild.

No rebuild just a 6 year retool on the fly.

Hutton looks way better when not saddled to EG as well. They just don’t have chemistry.

There are probably about five teams willing to give up a second round pick or better . GMs are valuing their picks a lot more than in the past . So with Kane Karlsson Nash Green Grabner and other big names what are the chances Gudbrandson is one of those names grabbing a high pick?

Agreed, I think he will be the guy he was in Florida which is a solid #4 dman. He is not and never will be top pairing unless his skating improves. I would like to see him with Edler more as that so far is a very good pairing for us.

Yeah but none of those guys have Gudbranson's intangibles.
