I'll take it! I think if they retain 30-50% of the contract they may get more, and I really hope they do.

Salo was finnish

Ohlund

- Nucker101

I know salo was finnish, hence his nickname.

I was just referring to Ohlund. I think SY's opinion is that Swedish dmen are a cut above the rest. The reasons are obvious.

How? He had zero offers on Vrbata? how did he mess that up? Vrbata also got zero offers last season.

People are so stubborn with this rewritten version. Like when they said last season that "they finally decided to rebuild" at the tdl. They did the same thing last years as the year before... the added young players to start and tried to trade a couple of vets at the deadline. Outcomes were different but intentions and actions were the same.

gudbranson
- Nucker101

I think I am going to flip-flop. I am now fully in favor of building our future D around Gudbranson as the corner stone. We must trade Edler and Tanev now, to prove to Erik that this is his team meow. He can mentor the young D coming in on how to play tough, how to stick up for each other. I think there is still hope for Hutton, so hold onto him, Stetcher and Pouilloot. Even though Biega already has Sutter sized balls, he is a UFA at the end of the year, so hopefully we can get a 5th for him and then sign him in the summer.

if i remember correctly, there's blame on both sides of the vrbatta issue.

vrbatta had a pretty good year the first year here. that was b/c of opportunity (playing with the sedins, minutes, deployment etc.)

as we recall, he was taken off the sedin line basically from the start of his 2nd year and he got moody real quick.

after he left, he said that he was approached for a list in january-ish? he provided the team with a list of teams that would never want or need him. this was an eff you to the team. he pretty much admitted it.

...but he did say that if the team was going to change his deployment and take him off the sedin line, all they had to do was tell him in the off season. he would have gladly asked/accepted a trade out.

so... both sides are to "blame."

i say we set the rules of the drinking game right now for the tdl and JB's post deadline presser:
1) take a sip every time he says "like" (sip only b/c who wants to pass out by 1pm?).
2) take a sip every time he says "uuuuuhhhhh"
3) take a gulp every time he say "you know"
4) finish your drink every time he says "there weren't really a lot of calls."
5) shotgun your drink if they move at least 1 player
6) 2 shots per second rounder
7) down the bottle if they get a first round pick.

either way, liquor (mixed with anger and disappointment) can only be good for vancouver hockey fans!

I like the Smolinski, Carney, and Weinrich type of leadership. That's the type of player you need to solidify a team, especially for a long playoff run.

Now that we have Erik locked up for 3 years, do we sign Tavares this year or wait until next year for Seguin?
