If I was to place a bet, the Canucks will make one trade this deadline. Junk roster and the team is too loyal to some of the vets.

But if you are right on him and the other remaining tradeable assets are junk, JB took their only real value tradeable asset off the market.

I would have been pleased if they moved EG, but they decided to keep him and the contract is reasonable imo so that's fine. I am not a huge Gudbranson supporter, I am just amused at how disliked he is. Personally, I want Tanev, Vanek and Hutton traded. Tanev's injury may have killed that dream.

Could it be that interest in Gudbranson and Vanek just isn't there? Vanek if at best get a 3rd essential a 4th. JB maybe sees him more valuable to re-sign. I can probably see Hutton being moved for a 4th or higher. He's been pretty average since his rookie year.

It is kinda funny how he's disliked. It's also kinda funny how all JB'S moves get justified in the moment.

You pretty much acknowledge that the only tradeable asset was resigned.

That's not my vision of rebuild. But that's pretty much been their MO since the regime got here.

Not so sure Tanev's latest injury hampers him being traded at the deadline. So long as he's good to go down the stretch and playoffs. Remaining term is key. Cons is his rash of recent injuries. Keep in mind Hutton carries a 2.8m salary for one more year. Doesn't bold well for his value at the moment.

The team needs to ask themselves if their actions to date will sell ticket packages this summer.

I can't say I blame him in that regard. We're looking for the picks and prospects but not ready to jump in. He's looking at vets leading the youngsters but more importantly staying somewhat competitive.
