They should care, however, about that big ass contract number that Tatar has and the fact that his production has been pedestrian at best.

3 more years left would be rough for them. Next year he has a full NTC. Next 2 years is a modified NTC.

No doubt why the Red Wings would want to trade him, but not sure how much sense it makes for Nashville. On the other hand, given the risk of acquiring Tatar, they may get out of that trade without having to give up a top prospect.

I don't think they will find a deal they like, and will end up keeping him. I don't know if Boston is in anymore. Tampa seems to be on the Mike Green train. I do think Toronto is a sleeper, but you know the GM up there is going to be loathe to get rolled in a trade by the Rangers. Might be hard to trade him.
