Yep...that's the pickle.

Feel like Hartman will be in a Caps sweater soon...

- Hank3Henshaw

Hartman could be a nice player eventually, but if he can get some D help back, I'd be fine with him moving. Not sure if the caps have D prospects for us.

he's still in Rockford. But agreed, Hartman has attitude issues and he should be dealt asap

Do you guys need Center help? AA is slower, but he's very steady and reliable in my opinion.

Ruutta could be a nice piece, but I thought TOR was looking for more experienced blue liners, right?

- Hank3Henshaw

steady and reliable at 3C could be what we're looking for. if we could dump bozak for picks then AA might be a better fit.

we need a RH dman. either a veteran stop gap or someone who can grow with the team.

I think he's regressed a lot since two years ago.

But, I also think he can look intriguing to teams going into the playoffs and might want a lower line guy that has an edge and can wear down the other team with physical play--even though he's been kind of inconsistent in that department this season. I think teams think they can get him and have him play that role for a playoff push.

Just my thought.

Not that I think anyone is intentionally lying, but I always question these debates on players attitudes. Sometimes they're right, but over the years fans/bloggers/media have questioned almost everyone's attitude or work ethic. It wasn't that long ago that some people were writing off Schmaltz because of his 'lack of compete', now he's a core piece of the rebuilding.

I hear ya DK.

Just passing along what I've heard.

All I know is from my personal experience, I work with a lot of "difficult" millennials these days and wouldn't be surprised when some of these early-20s players have a bigger sense of entitlement than they should.

I wouldn't mind the Blackhawks trying to nab Scott Laughton in a Philly Trade. The guy is around 51-52% at the dot, plays good defense, and is much cheaper than AA.

I think Toronto is set at center: Matthews, Kadri, Bozak, Moore. Then a handful of guys who can fill in at center: Marleau, Nylander, Komarov, Hyman

A quote from the JJ (tho not him) podcast: "heard rumors that he's kind of created his own ticket out of here. . .might be a little of a too big for his britches. . .frustration with the way the team is. . .not really understanding what his role on the Blackhawks is supposed to be"

Squares with my experience with some millennial employees, too Particularly, the concern about his role on the team.

Yep - would be a great target. He's a good guy as well. Played a round of golf with him and Steve Spott (who had coached him on one of the National Teams) a few years back.

That's kind of a BS blanket statement.

Most of these guys are 'hockey kids', which in my experience has meant one of either two things: A guy who eats, lives, and breathes hockey and is pretty relaxed in every other regard.

or

A spoiled rotten kid who is used to having his parents bend over backwards to make sure their star child gets his favorite flavor of poptarts or he throws a massive tantrum. These guys don't deal well with the word 'no'.

You can see in Hartman's game, he's not too sure how he's supposed to play. He'll have bursts of physical shifts, then the next game he's trying to deke through 3 guys at the blueline.

Some of that could be coaching as well. I didn't hear anything past that "he can be difficult".

It's things like this that back what I've been hearing for a while now that the Hawks want to add true character guys (see: team players) to this team.

I think you're pretty bang on with those 2 categories.

I will say, those 2 types of categories can get muddied when you incorporate millions of dollars at stake and the business side of hockey (something that neither category has had to deal with too much past an entry level contract at this point).

Honestly, didn't hear anything past "Hartman could be difficult at times" so the rest would only assumptions on my end.

Where to begin...haha.

I think the Hawks need blueline help-- first and foremost. But, I don't think the Leafs would want to move any guys or prospects, because aren't you kind of thin there, too?

BTW--how has Carrick been for you guys? He's a local kid from the Chicago suburbs and I've always been rooting for him. He was with the Caps before the Leafs.
