Justin you mention trading Hartman for a young dman with top 4 potential I would do it but who is the dman coming back any names come to mine that you can think of?

Ceci
Trouba(unlikely)
Morrisey(maybe)
Fleruy
Morin

These be ones I be looking at if I was trading Hartman it also depends on how the other gm's view Hartman.

- Scott1977

Those are all great names. I don't see the Winnipeg lads being traded now (maybe summer).

I like Ceci a lot but he might cost you a bit more than Hartman and/or to resign him (not sure what he would be asking for).

Carolina and Philadelphia are taking their time with their young D it appears but those teams would be ones to watch. Hartman is a very Philly type player as well.

Morrissey would be a great pickup, but he would be costly.

Leafs have no interest in Seabrook- no one does

Leafs understand what they have & this team isn’t there this year.

But/ they are Hawks 2008-09- few more adds and look out

The Leafs cleared more space today with the Fehr trade combine that with salary coming back they now have room to absorb the Seabrook contract.
- scott.jackson

You'll have to wait in line. The Leafs are trading for most other team's poop players/old players/players with awful contracts.

We'll get to you when we get to you.

It's a joke about the concept of "Salary dumping",.

You're wasting your breath Enzo, like yelling into a giant chasm of nothingness.
In the mean-time, you and I can only dream they launch the overweight and out-of-shape Seabrook to any willing takers. One of Blowman's biggest contract fails. Nearly $7M til he's almost 40.

If he doesn't move 15 this week, I think that's a mistake. Can't have nearly $5 mil 3rd line centers when you have a 3rd pair $7mil Dmen for the foreseeable future and $21 million in cap to 88+19. 15 should, based on very comparable trades (Vermette, Hanzal recently), get you a solid haul. Can Bowman turn the table on these GMs who are in his old position and ready to overpay to go all in for the Cup?? He better or I'd find someone new in April if I'm JMcD.

Troy Terry and Donato the college boys very impressive and it's 1-0 USA!

Why do you say it is a contract fail? Isn't his contract written so that he can retire and there will be no penalty?

PE, unless Blowman is holding in one hand an acetylene torch to Seabs' ass and has a long pole with a big beef sandwich in the other, I really don't think 7 is gonna walk away from almost $7-large per year.

Would you?
I mean, pride is one thing but the guy has a family and that coin insures not only his/wife's future but that of his kids/grandkids/great grandkids if he gets some good financial advice.

I know I wouldn't retire if I were him.
Going have to chase him off the ship (or lure him -- hence the big Chicago beef sandwich with sweet peppers). More likely, have to trade him and eat salary, give up picks/prospects/players and/or take back another bad contract.

Plus, trading him will be tough -- like Crawford, he will probably say no or turn down any suggestion of moving.

Seebs will most likely be bought out after the next CBA ,and both parties were aware of this at the time . I believe trading AA would be a mistake ,he should remain the 2nd line center with Kane and DBC ,he adds some defensive ability . AA is also very reasonable contract for a 2nd line center
Schmaltz should be on the 3rd line with Vinny and Hartman .Toews and Saad plus Duclair or whoever .And Wingles with Hayden and ??? .

Getting a coach that will work with the players he is given would help ,instead of one who storms out and pouts in the corner .Drawing cards out of a hat for line- ups .

I don't hate those lines, but the defense is the biggest flaw of this team. USA v CZECH 4v4 OT.....maybe AA gets a D prospect better than 27 year old career Euros

AA should be traded immediately while he has at least some value left. He has limited skill and no speed and is oft-injured and makes quite a bit of money. Trade him while there is still a chance to. He cannot be on Kane’s line.

Really don't think anyone would take Seabs at this point , not with that contract . Hawks don't have a lot sweetner they could add to make it happen or if Tampa has a really bad contact they want to send back.
Murphy has been so so 4 million Is too much for 5th or 6th defenceman. Some here think he can move to a top 4 spot.

Maybe there is hope the Hawks can turn it around in a few years , very impressed with Bruins .
Had a few bad years but their veterans have played great Bergeron , (should be considered for MVP) Marchand, Kerji, and Chara. SOME great drafting and young players making great contributions.
Perhaps if Toews, Seabrook, Keith ect can pick up their play and some young guys improve we can have a big improvement in a year or two
Won't hold my breath.
Ps also if we could draft a McAvoy and Carolo that would help

Toews needs to go back to traditional training ways. Weights, protein, weights and more protein. Only way he goes back to being a difference maker.

Buyout has cap hit correct?Just play the guy you want to lose a ton until he breaks down if he won't retire......Seabs has made like 60 m9l while Toews 70 or 80 so I won't feel sorry.

no cap implication with buyout...but a new CBA may not grant buy outs...and once again i fully expect an acrimonious CBA negotiation probably a stoppage after next season...

The Bruins are the team I'm looking at for hope moving forward as well. Getting rid of Chiarelli (on his way to ruining his 2d team) and replacing him with Sweeney was a great first step. They took off after Julien was launched and replaced by Cassidy after half a season last year. Both had an extended period of success together with the Bruins that had run its course.

Q's message looks to have gone stale with what's left of Stan's grossly overpaid core-it's been a crazy long run by today's NHL standard. There is so much shared success between players, coach and gm that I think there is a lack of objectivity of what's really left here and what's required moving forward. I think new voices are needed to honestly assess this roster and this organization- someone new needs to poke the ashes of the (immovable) core and see if there is any fire left

Not if the league makes compliance buyouts available after the new CBA is signed, which is what happened last time. Those have no cap hit.

I 100% expect some type of stoppage. As much as I love the NHL, its run like an 8th grade lemonade stand.
