Interesting stat during the game last night.... Schmaltz leads the league in takeaways. Take that for what it is worth but he shows so much promise. Kaner needs to get him in the gym this summer.

Although not surprised that he's a league leader in takeaways, I am surprised that he's #1 in that stat category. He is pretty adept at swooping in to either knock the puck away from an unsuspecting opponent or straight up strip the puck away to head back on offense. It's one of those little things I enjoy seeing each game especially during this dismal season.

correct me if I am wrong...didnt panik have a 2 yr term on his contract (this year and next) and Duclair ONLY has this year committed. So the upside to Hawks is Duclair could be a good 'find' with a 30 game try out - we should be able to figure it out by end of season - if he is a no go, cut bait and no commitment to next season. We knew what we had in Panik and if we held on to him, we were still on the hook for next season regardless. This deal was 100% win for Hawks - where did i go wrong?

The Leafs cleared more space today with the Fehr trade combine that with salary coming back they now have room to absorb the Seabrook contract.

Leafs are a team to watch.

They are in the market for a shutdown D with playoff experience and would like to add a Centre (like they did with Boyle last year).

What I've heard RE: the core pieces, if... if the Hawks move a core piece it would be in the off-season OR if a deal came a along that was too good in terms of the return or opportunity to jump on dumping a contract.
