Karlsson and Ryan for David Desharnias and Nick Holden
- MiloslavHorava

Jokes aside I'm really curious what they're expecting in return. As amazing a player as Karlsson is (and assuming that report is true), they can't possibly expect teams to be forking over multiple 1st's and top players/prospects for $13,750,000 between two players in return.

No, I'd say we're right on schedule. A little late if this were August.
- Tonybere

I guess it is a direct correlation with their involvement in playoff hockey.

And we would regret it LOL

- MiloslavHorava

If they can't trade Ryan, they have to buy him out. That is one of the worst contracts out there.

No way that trade happens. No GM would be stupid enough to do that, who besides the Yotes has the cap room to accommodate that big of a hit?

I can already feel it.

Gorton sheds all this salary and signs Karlsson and some other junk players to Redden like deals.

how do you hang a coach out to dry when his team & season was sabotaged by upper mgmts plan to retool....
R N H was having a break out season till mid season injury , not going to find any other young centers with as much upside as him...
lets see the list .....

Thank You Jan for saying the 6 most important words of truth in that one full sentence here. "A HIGH DRAFT PICK GUARANTEES NOTHING."
Look no further than right here at MSG, although some may be way too young to recall those 1st Round failures you mentioned dating as far back just to the Tom Renney days. I hope that a specific "TANKER" that became M.I.A. recently from here reads those 6 words of yours.
Just since two teams in the Penguins and the Hawks, took full advantage of being repeated league cellar dwellers, doesn't mean that this "strategy" (if that were so their case), would work for everyone else automatically, as some here believe it will. There will still be holes to fill in the lineup, whereby the salary cap then becomes a huge issue in attempting so, and then retaining the team in tact. (See Chicago with the Kane and Toews contracts.)
Cup contenders are built through both great management and scouting, just as the expansion Vegas Knights did so last summer. I don't see any McDavid or Matthews up front, or an Eichel on their back line, having been selected by them yet in an NHL Entry Draft.
A summer of 2000, 7th Rounder & 205th overall pick still here named Hank, and now playing elsewhere, a NON NHL DRAFTED, summer of 2006, free agent signing named Girardi arrived without being a top 4 overall pick, yet alone any pick in Round One. That's good enough for me. So why would you tank any season, in order to have only a Bingo's cage chance of selecting among the very first 4 overall picks?

Technically? Carolina.

I wouldn't totally put that move past the Yotes though. It's insanely unlikely, but they're pretty desperate for top talent and will never attract any through UFA. OEL would probably give him the hard-sell on re-signing, too.

Your going to quickly become toms replacement, playing the part of the villain, if you keep insisting on this trade

They traded Stepan for a reason and it wasn’t to acquire the same player (in many ways) a year later.

Call me crazy, but I don't think I would mind a Karlsson signing. I know he'd cost a TON, but with a lot of younger players on the roster in the coming years, it might not matter. What would it cost to have him on board?

If Mac was traded, it would be like upgrading the #1 dman.

I would never trade Mcd for RNH and either would Gorton. Miller could be possible.
You are losing the trade hands down trading those tow for him.

If there was no Cap I would not mind, but he is going to be insanely expensive. Some are thinking in the realm of 10mil per. That is nuts.

Ive seen others write that he doesnt move the same since his ankle surgery last summer. he's never going to be as good as he was/is currently so really you're paying for past performance

He hasn't. But, it's a little early to say that he will never get back to that level.

I think you have to give the guy a pass on this season. He didn't really get the opportunity to train this off season. I'd imagine that his skating will come back. I'm not advocating for it, but if it happened I think I would be less pissed than others.

His relationship with Hank and Zuke might bode well for the chemistry in the room, if it did happen.
