we should offer Brandon Manning to Toronto for JVR - 2Real
If we're gonna go all out, I say we call up Edmonton and offer Manning for McDavid and a few 1sts. |

FA signings have never been a strong suit of the Flyers. Who was the last FA signing that came from another organization who lived up to expectations? Danny B? - SimmerDown
Elliott lived up to mine but they weren't sky high to begin with. |

Send him to a Pacific Team
He’s in the Oilers heads - Nucker101
I really, really thought that Calgary would have some interest in him just for that reason. |

Sadly, I won't be able to check, I'm about to leave work and go relieve my wife. First solo day taking care of both my daughter and my 7-day-old son. - jmatchett383

JvR would have had a long wait to be with them. He got traded because he was a spare part at the time of that deal. Change of scenery helped him a lot. - dragonoffrost
I don't agree with this at all. One season later we traded for Simon Gagne to fill the void. |

That Jagr guy was pretty good.
Talbot had a huge year when we signed him, definitely overachieved.
Nick Schultz, on his first Flyers contract. Same with MDZ.
Lappy was good, so was Blair Betts the first year.
Most of their FA acquisitions have been for league-average goalies and bottom-6 players, so it's not like there are many Briere-level signings. |

It's very possible that Simmonds has been struggling with physical issues all season so this 2-3 week break could do wonders for him depending on what the issues have been. Maybe we see a different Simmonds when he returns for the stretch drive. - MJL

You don't trade JvR for Schenn unless you had the surplus at wing which they did have...
Hartnell, Simmonds, Voracek, Jagr were all hoped to be back in 2012 but they Jerked around Jagr while trying to sign Suter and Jagr went elsewhere. If you had those 4 wingers on your top 2 lines you have no huge need for JvR. |

Exactly. They operated under the assumption that they had a surplus at forward (and remember, JvR missed a huge chunk of that season). It just didn't work out that way in the end. |

One thing to remember is that the first offer was just a RUMOR. Can it be confirmed that Detroit wanted a 3rd and the deal was done? - SimmerDown
You know. This is fair and you're right. However, if the reports are true and Hextall did originally reject this trade, Hextall tripped and fell on to a possibly better goaltending situation than we started this season with. Both for now and the future.
I like this trade. I can't believe he would say no to it the first time it was offered. Outside of the Coburn trade, I can't think of a Hextall trade that improves the product on the ice today and moving forward until now. |

Everyone looks at the deal in a vacuum but the reality was it was a larger picture at play kinda like the Brayden Schenn to STL deal. Schenn for Lehtera is ugly but you absorb Lehtera to get the second first rounder. |

Gagner for Grossmann+Pronger helped both in the present and future.
Weal for Schenn and VLC is a win for me, but they didn't let Weal play forever.
As much as we moan about Filppula, getting him plus picks for Streit was a win because Streit was a net minus.
But in general, you are right, Hexy has viewed the long haul over the present in his trades. |
