Would you be interested in Eric Karlsson if lou was going to give OTT marner as part of that package?

Leafs should trade JVR + 3rd rounder 2018 to NYI for NYI 1st 2018 and Cal 1st 2018
- MaximusAurelius

Oops, flagged by accident.

Anywho, yes, I agree. We can hire someone in long island to drug Garth Snow by dumping a gram of PCP into his morning coffee and then get Lou to make the call.

Good deal for both teams. Detroit needs to increase that lottery odds % somehow.

Big Question regarding Trade deadline:

Many teams every year make big trades at times giving up a lot with the hope that the player(s) they acquire will get them to the stanely cup final

Do trade deadline deals reall push teams over the hump and should leafs go all in to improve when it could cost them significantly pieces-prospects?

I’m thinking of the hype regime in shattenkirk and the Rangers last year. It didn’t do much for the rangers as they are now in mini rebuild mode?

One of The last times leafs made a significant trade to bring in pieces that made a big positive difference was when cliff fletcher brought in Doug Gilmour from Calgary and a lot of players were swapped. We did not win the cup but we really did benifit as a team.

Set your expectations meter to "A 2017 Brian Boyle Type Trade" because that's all that the Leafs are doing this season.

Nope. Rental players hardly ever help a team win a cup as far as i know. It's basically a huge waste in my opinion. Unless the addition is a Stud, which you rarely see happen anyways.

problem is it can really only work for 1 team.

tampa and maybe nashville should be paying up to improve their team. probably boston, jets, caps and stars too?

isles will have to pay up to entice tavares to stay.

most other buyers should stick to a depth move or 2; just to be in a position to withstand an injury or 2.

those could pan out (best case scenario) as #1 and #2 overall.
but as well could pan out as pick #22 and pick #26 overall (16-31 if both teams make playoffs) for example.
JVR might put NYI in playoffs (in their minds at least)
