He's not having the best sophomore season, but his offensive game last year was very strong and his frame is NHL ready. Only 21. How anybody ever gives up on players in their early 20s is a mystery to me. - Unholy_Goalie
he has good, size.. he's like 6'3, 210 lbs and he's a good skater... too bad he isn't right-handed |

I'm waiting for a player to be like a switch hitter in baseball and use a stick with no curve so he can switch hands mid-shift.
I think Gordie Howe use to do that. |

He's 21. Relax. - Unholy_Goalie
most prospects picked in the 3rd round don't make it.
sure, keep him around one more year and see if turns things around. but i'm not going to expect much from guys who start going backwards who were battling long odds to begin with. |

Oh so give up on him at 22 instead of 21. Yeah...good plan...
Not like that's burned us before, right...?

Holden and Gudbranson being taken off the market is great. Just need Green and McDonagh to go other places too to dodge those bad bullets. - Unholy_Goalie
3 Bullets dodged if the Leafs were getting ideas.

I actually agree with you on this..
If Nielsen was an RHD, he would probably be up in the NHL already - PatC80
He probably wouldn't be. He's still really really bad defensively. If he can get to a point where he's even just not bad defensively, then he could be used on the 3rd pair and power play. |

Unless his ankle is (frank)ed forever, acquiring a Norris Trophy winner is a bullet worth taking. He's a Senator so it's obligatory that he must be hated but he's a legit #1 D and the Leafs would be a better team with him, depending on the cost of course. |

i'm pinning my hopes on bracco. i've lost hope for nielsen.
i have read on here that woll will be our starting goalie soon enough. - Tumbleweed
Really?? He's only 21. Never think about giving up on a Dman untill there at least 24.
Last year i thought Neilson was better then Dermott. This year hes in a bit of a slump. His size, speed and shot all speak Nhl caliber. Just needs time imo. Diff players progress at diff rates.

The bolded is what I was getting at. His play has been pretty atrocious this season but he's damn good. |

But how much of that is his fault? The Senators are a garbage team this year. They weren't that great last year either but Karlsson carried them on his back most of the year. He had more points than Matthews last year. What's that worth? |
|
|
|
just want to point out that Gardiner is really bad - not going to win any cups with him on your team.
in particular 0 use for him after current season with dermott there.

I agree that we shouldn't give up on Neilson. And he might have had more points than Dermott last season but Dermott has always been the better player. |

By 24 he'll have no trade value, like leivo.
He's behind rielly, gardiner, dermott, borgman and rosen.
Somebody can be traded withot destroying our depth on the left. Why not move him before his value goes to zero? |

Yea he's got a pretty bad team but there seems to be an awful lot of situations this season where he'd normally be able to skate himself out of trouble but his step/speed just isn't there.
Ottawa isn't giving him up for anything short of a kings ransom, and they shouldn't, that's why he's a bullet. |

Because being tied for the team lead in assists and 15th in D scoring is totally useless when you have a rookie who's played 18 career games. |

Because you're foolish assuming his value will go to zero.
And he was better than Dermott last year, better than Rosen, maybe better than Borgman too. |
