Don’t forget the $25 in cap space next year with only (Maybe) Nieto to resign.

Hello JVR, John Carlson and Paul Stastny

Landy - MacK - Rants
JVR - Stastny - Andrigetto
Kerfoot - Compher - Jost
Nieto - Soder- Wilson

EJ - Zads
Carlson - Barrie
Girard - Timmons

Im on board with JVR, I think he fits into the team nicerly. Not sure about Carlson as he might be too costly and too old for the D core going fwd. I woiuld rather take a shot at a guy liek De Haan, 26 and would be cheaper. Carlson is 28 and righty....dont think he would make sense here but he would help for sure.

I am wondering if Carlson would take a Shatty-like deal. 6.5 or 7 but for 4 years. Given the enormous cap space, it seems like they could afford/overpay, but keep the term short, and let him be a FA at 32 or 33.

OR

Go all in on Tavares and one more player (JVR, Bailey, De Haan, Carlson). The Avs could offer a very front loaded deal (15M first year and 9.5 x 7 after). Offer to sign his buddy Bailey or pair with JVR, sell him on F depth and the budding D, the peacefulness of Colorado, the lack of Garth Snow...

Ultimately I cannot see why they won’t be players in FA. Promising young core and 4th most cap space in 18-19.
