So let's go with the middle ground (which I actually think is pretty steep)....Sheary + Sprong + 2nd for Brassard.

versus...

being comfortable with Sheahan at 3C, bring in a cheap 4C, and maybe consider a 1st + Not Sprong prospect for a wing upgrade. The 'available' wings are some pretty big names and probably cost less than Brassard.

I could get behind either option...

Well OTT is losing Karrlson next season so instead of Sprong, Id put a D player in (Hunwick). I honestly dont know Brasard's game that well. The dude is good, but he would only have 1 yr left after this and he's 30. Do you extend a 32 yr old after his deal?

Is there anyone younger that they could go after?

I wouldnt be shocked at all to see Bozak get moved. I know for a fact Babcock likes hunwick and has said so publicly while coaching him and when he left... I’d be trying to work something in there.... say hunwick and a 2nd.

Everyone is all in love with brassard and he is good but I’d be after Domi first. Bidding war is on brassard and price will be high. Domi is 8 years younger and the stats are very similar. Even if you pay a little more for Domi he could be your #3 C problem solved for the next 10-15 years. Hell 2 short years ago he was supposed to have the potential to be a #1C sooo maybe a ton more! Rather than brassard and do this again in just under 2 years.

From the sounds of things brassard and Domi have about the same asking price because domis “terrible season” so far (28 points in 59 games isn’t terrible to me) has dropped his stock. He’s only 22 and I’ve watched his last 6 games and the kid works his ass off with no help.

In short.... my 2 targets would be bozak and domi and wouldn’t be surprised to see either of them get moved.

I don't think we'd need to add Sprong to Sheary and a 1st. Could see them really wanting Gustavsson although even that seems high. Maybe get the 1st downgraded to a 2nd or something. But there's a trade to be made there.
- Tojo.

I'd give them a choice.... 1st and Sheary + prospect not named Sprong or Gus. Or 2nd, Sheary and Gus. Another thing Bomboulie mentioned is Gustovsson's stock went way up due to his performance in the world juniors.

I don't see TO giving us our "missing piece" when they hope to play us in the ECF. Don't see that happening at all.

I'd rather upgrade our 4C than expend Sprong on Brassard, TB perfectly H. ZAR has made him more expendable, but I think it'll be really important to use the next wave of cheap guys (ZAR, Sprong, and Simon) to generate cap space to be able to spend on a 3C (found via free agency or trade) and/or a top 6 winger.

I'd love to get Domi, but I'm not sure he's a slam dunk to be a full time 3C. He's more of a winger IMO.

Dvorak from the Yotes might be a cheap 4C on the Pens that can slot up to 3C if needed. I think Dvorak would be a lot cheaper than Domi but would give the Pens a more flexible piece.

Wouldn't mind a biggish deal where we get both.

Now you're just being greedy!
Rick Tocchet may WANT someone (or two) from the Pens, so maybe it could happen.

Rick Tocchet is also already probably on the hot seat (as well as the GM), so I don't know how much his wants will factor in.

I’m sure he doesn’t care, but that doesn’t help the Pens.

He hasn’t been getting a few shifts per game with Sid or Geno. It’s happened like once since changing the lines. Any other time it’s happened was simply due to a line change and was momentarily.

That doesn't help the Pens? Do you live in an alternate reality that I am not aware of?The reality I live in, the Pens have an 11 game home winning streak and are 16-4-1 in last 20 games....I'm not seeing your point about not helping the Pens?? Is this team called the Pittsburgh Phil's....that has a nice ring to it but....I think the Pens are doing just fine.

Going to my first VGK game tonight. Super excited! I guess technically they’re my second favorite team since I live here.

I would love to snag both Bozak and Domi but I wouldn't compare Domi to Brassard because I believe Domi mostly plays wing, no?

Just says pens are willing to include sprong or a first. Just don’t see eye to eye on the roster player. Might not be a bad idea if the pens can find a cheap 4th line center

That must be a really awesome reality!! Do people still complain in that reality that the Pens are hurting having a 16-4-1 record the past 20 games and Phil on the third line??

It makes zero sense to me why Ottawa would ask for an impending UFA if they’re selling. That’s not a hockey trade for them. It’s just nonsensical

Not really cus I can’t afford to go out to eat. I can tell you all about poophole bars in the area though.

EDIT: My parents took us to this place called Matchbox in Chinatown that was pretty good. I’ve heard great things about Dukes Grocery (burger place) but not really sure where it is.
