Yeah, it's disappointing that Sprong isn't up right now given his small sample size and his results. Kuhn and Reaves could BOTH be out of the lineup.
Simon-Sid-Sprong
Guentzel-Geno-Kessel
Rust-Sheahan-Sprong
ZAR-Rowney-Hornqvist
get a decent 4C and boom. That should absolutely be the playoff roster. - j.boyd919
Calling up Sprong and double shifting him. Bold move. Hags should be in there too. Maybe even Sheary. :p |

If it gets Sheary off the ice I'm all for it. |

I just really hope they don’t pull a Pouliot on Sprong. My gut tells me he’s gonna get moved though. |

No pulling a Pouliot would be deciding you don’t like him two years ago and then inexplicably hanging on to him until he had no value left. At least with Sprong it looks like we’re actively shopping him. |

Sheary, Sprong, Hunwick and a 4th that becomes a first (if the Pens win the cup) for Brassard.
2nd round pick and prospect for Grabner
I believe this fits under the cap! Thoughts?
Guentzel Crosby Grabner
Hags Malkin Horny
Rust Brassard Kessel
ZAR/Kuhn Sheahan Reeves

Given that you forgot a couple players, this is really what we should be looking like at full strength:
Simon-Crosby-Guentzel
Hagelin-Malkin-Hornqvist
Rust-Sheahan-Kessel
Aston Reese-Rowney-Sheary
If you were to run off the assumption Sprong was ready to go, that really opens up a Sheary hockey trade. If we were to acquire, say, Brassard, with a Sheary trade and keep Sprong at the same time, things could look like this:
Guentzel-Crosby-Hornqvist
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Simon-Brassard-Sprong
Aston Reese-Sheahan-Rust
That would give you three absurdly potent offensive lines and a shutdown nightmare line of puck cycling nonsense the likes of which we've never seen since Kennedy-Staal-Cooke was in its heyday. |

I love it accept Sprong, I don't think the Pens believe in him at this point in time.
Grabner can play either wing in the top 9 |

Seems like NHL 18 to me. But Sprong is the only thing really difficult to part with.
We need those cheap ELC wingers going forward. I'd really want to re-sign one of Brassard/Grabner to mitigate the long term loss.
I also don't see OTT taking Hunwick. |

Right now my prediction is that we don't see him again this season and there's a 50/50 chance he's traded at the deadline. If he remains past the deadline, though, I don't think he gets traded this offseason.
Only was throwing him in there for the lines because Boyd was running a "what if Sprong was up?" thought experiment. |

Have to think a deal could be made tomorrow or Thursday with the Pens being off until Friday. |

Even if Ottawa Passes on Hunwick he might be moveable for a late round pick.
The Center depth of Crosby-Malkin-Brassard - Sheahan would be unmatched for the next two years. Grabner adds speed on the Crobsy line...Yes RW would be a little thin next season, however the Pens would have Cap space Rust and possibly Horny

There are unconfirmed reports that sid is unhappy with his wingers. Grabner and Jake might work. If the Pens add Grabner and Brassard you guys can arrange the lines anyway you like lol |

What is sprongs realistic value to another team? A 2nd rnd pick? Not so sure to many teams would give away a 1st for him if any team would at all. Just thinking if I’d want to trade him for that little knowing his value could be WAY higher then that very soon. |

I'd guess it's closer to a first. Team's prefer players close to the NHL. If they traded him now they'd get good value unless he becomes a star. |

Great. The bad thing is they might try to improve their team and grab Brassard. Make a move Rutherford! |

I can't read the article but looks like TIOPS mentioned Bjugstad. Would Florida possibly move him? They're one of those middle ground teams I have no idea what they want to do... |
