3rd round pick is a decent haul for Stan. Hopefully he can keep accumulating draft pick capital.

I’m curious about AA’s value, however. Remember when Hanzal was dealt from the Coyotes to the Wild at the deadline last year? He fetched a 1st, a 2nd, a conditional pick, and a prospect.

At the time, Hanzal had 16 goals (26 points) in 51 games.
At this time, AA has 15 goals (22 points) in 49 games.

Granted last year was a weak deadline where there wasn’t much available, and he was an expiring contract, but I wonder if AA has even more value than that considering he’s locked in at a reasonable clip, and is a year younger than Hanzal was.

Now of course, Hanzal wins FO at a 55% clip while AA is at 46%, but they both have similar body-types and slot in best as 3C’s.

Given the amount of bigger names available at this year, AA won’t fetch as much attention as Hanzal did, but I think it would be fair for Stan to at least seek a similar haul as Chayka did.

Not sure if he can pull it off, but if the Hawks have to throw in Bouma as well to sweeten the deal as the Coyotes did with White, then I think it COULD entice a team looking to upgrade its depth.

Watch Stan work out something with another GM for Anisimov getting something actually decent in return only to have AA veto it due do his NMC.

How about Murphy to Arizona for Hjalmarsson?

I have actually been thinking of Hammer returning. Not necessarily for Murphy but in some way. I don’t think you want Hammer short term though. Also Hammer has been pretty durable up to this year when he has missed many games with injury, which is an issue. As I’ve posted before we really don’t know what Murphy is as a player as he has been in and out and moved all over the line-up.

JJ ripped DeBrincat constantly. I know because I was in constant debate with him over DeBrincat. JJ basically said his Jr stats would not translate. I said that the stats certainly would - that DeBrincat had very special talent. That I had watched DeBrincat and he could stick-handle in a phone booth, always found the open ice, had incredible peripheral vision for passing, went to hard areas etc etc. Hawks very fortunate that DeBrincat fell to them. Lots of teams missed the boat as he should've been a First Rounder. Thank goodness he was viewed too small. JJ was completely wrong with respect to DeBrincat.

I hope he joins Kane and the boys off season for training!

15 pounds of muscle and 2-3 seasons in Rockford and DeBrincat might become a serviceable AHL talent.

The fans ejected from the game have now been banned for life from the Hawks' home games.

From a Blackhawks spokesperson: "We have contacted the select individuals involved in the incident on Saturday to notify them that they are no longer welcome at our home games. Racist comments and other inappropriate behavior are not tolerated by the Chicago Blackhawks."

19 might be served well to join that training group instead of whatever he does his off season the past few years.

Agreed

Sounds like he spent his last offseason when in WPG training/training with Nolan Patrick

I'd rather he work with our rookies, but I know it's not uncommon for players to train with people from all over the league.

It breaks my heart to see Seabrook this way. Can we not give him to a Cap Floor team-nothing coming back?

I'm serious

Don't know what he/they did, specifically. Would make some sense if he does have that back injury that JJ and others alleged.

He posted several cross-fit type videos of himself training the summer before this last.

i think bonding with the younger guys would be a good thing - especially since the under 23 crew has done most of the heavy lifting this last while....may re-energize the Core

Absolutely. Schmaltz has raw ability and talent that nobody on that team has (anymore) outside of Kaner, and he's only 23.

He's 21 as of today...turns 22 on the 23rd.

Re: Hino and Hartman.

I think Hartman is too inconsistent and unpredictable to be an effective 3rd player. And he has more skill than being only a spark-plug on the 4th line, that is why he is often in and out of the lineup. I am not sure about his value in a trade now after the season he has had, but in the long run, I don't think he has his spot here and it is better to use him as a trade chip: he will be more useful in a different system.

Hino is what he is, inexpensive and his value for the Hawks is higher than for other teams, where I think he is underrated. He is worth keeping as a role player and that will not change in the next few years, when there is not much room under the cap.

Murphy could slot in as s third pair to work well once a third pair offensive guy can stick. Snuggerud, Jokiharju next in line for a look. This is where Oesterle should be if others are traded or not ready. Problematic though with Seabrook around. Neither Seabrook or Murphy ideal skaters for the second pair. What advantage we could have with the best possible 5 man units. Right now face off winner (only Toews unit), physicality unit "0;" better 5 man skating means puck possession but reliance upon quickness and speed has as much to do with execution, and we are weak in this area,too....at least teamwide

Murphy's $3.85M hit is too much cap for the third pair, much less half of it. He wasn't brought here to play 5/6 minutes.

Somewhere out there, JJ is in agony. He was a big supporter of Kruger and Kempny...and both have proven to be less than stellar.
- onehundredlevel

Kruger? If Kruger didn't center the shutdown line in 2015, Hawks wouldn't have won the Cup. And if him and Frolik weren't the top penalty killers in 2013, there goes that Cup.

Read that the Hawks have permanently banned the racist bum-holes from Saturday’s ugly incident. Now that that has been dealt with, I am hopeing that if Seabrook ends up in the penalty box, we will have some well intentioned fans chanting “basketball, basketball” while he’s in the box.

I don't but you may want to do yourself a favor and pass. You've missed nothing so far .
