i doubt you are getting a guy like that for bottom 6 rental UFA...

unfortunate to see him go...one of the few guys who plays hard every game

I don't know, the trade deadline can be a wacky place.

I bet you Marc Bergevin never thought he'd be able to get a former 1st round pick, Danault AND and 2nd rounder for 2x bottom 6 UFA rentals in Weise and Fleischman.

Kempny traded

Talk about a poster boy for how some players get jerked around by this team.....

The guy has speed, vision, a little nasty, and a shot. NOT ONE of the current crop of 82, 63, 44, 5, 56 have all of those tools in their boxes. Up, down, healthy scratch, in, out...and all that guy did this year was play pretty darned well.

So a team weak on D trades its best current candidate for the #4D job for nothing in return.

Awesome.

Agreed, but after the way Q handled him, there was no way he was signing here next year.

Edit: that probably lessened his trade value.

And he’s the only defenseman who shoots quick wrister from the blue l8ne, instead of the long Juan Marichal wind-up slapper, most of which get blocked.

We may be two of the very few here old enough to have seen that marvelous pitcher.

You guys aren't the only ones. As a kid playing fast-pitch in the schoolyard (rubber ball against a wall) I loved imitating the wind-ups of the MLB pitchers of the time. Marichal, Tiant, Pappas, Gibson, Jenkins, Phil Niekro, Wilbur Wood (yes, I could throw a knuckleball). Gosh a dislike being an old adult.

Actually the best current candidate is back in RFD...Forsling. Even if Kempny decided to resign, if Q's is still behind the bench, he's likely playing sporadically. Take the pick and move on. Wouldn't mind if they traded a few more of the above for picks or were able to package one for a true top 4 dman.
