Garth Snow has botched more picks than a greasy-handed defensive back and wasted the prime years of a Hall of Famer, but hell yeah, let's have him in charge of the biggest decision in franchise history... what to do with John Tavares. In any other sport, the GM trades the elite talent headed for free agency when the team is at best a coin flip to make the playoffs, then pushes to re-sign him in the offseason. But this is the dumbest sport in the world, so the GM that's underwhelmed for a decade will hang onto Tavares for the rest of the season and potentially lose him for nothing instead of reaping a bounty of futures at the deadline (that he'd probably botch, anyway). The Islanders are the Kobayashi Maru of hockey.

I transferred to albany the year the Isles made the playoffs in 06-07. I spent 3 years in Albany...06-07...07-08...08-09(i graduated a year late cause i lost credits transferring)

I think we kinda had this convo. I didn't know you went to Albany though. I didn't play hockey i ran track at SJB (i was the fastest white kid on long island ) But i knew Brian Cody and some other guys

edit: I lived across the street from the downtown campus in a house (in between partidge and onatario street on western Ave. A few houses down from Washington Tavern.

If you knew Cody...did you know his roommates? because I was really close to his roommates in Albany

I actually got arrested in Albany with one of his roomates for pissing outside

I don't think I knew his roommates. We weren't great friends or anything, we played roller hockey together. Maybe I met them at some point, but I can't recall it if I did.

You lived right around the corner from me. I lived on Hamilton between Ontario and Partridge, closer to Madison, right across from that playground/basketball court.

I am totally indifferent which, to me, is worse than anything. This team has sucked the life out of me and watching feels like a chore now. Just going through the motions over here.

I don't root against them when they still have a chance to make the playoffs I just don't get mad when they lose and like to think its one step closer to cleaning house when they do lose

I'm in the same place. The only thing I would hate to see is for them to totally suck and then win the last five games. The spin they would put on that would make me sick.
