IMO, if I can a player like draft Bouchard or Boquist at No. 7, I am not sure I give up another first round pick to move up to four to get Tkachuck. I don't think it's worth it.

I think every draft is different. This year Dahlin is by himself. 2-4 are close with Tkachuk Zadina Svechnikov. Maybe Svechnikov is the #2 but Tkachuk and Zadina will depend on the team. 5-10 are close together.

How is going to a real good team for 3-4 months bad for a player’s career, unless re-signing beyond the year is part of the deal.

Go play 3-4 months for a contender and then sign wherever you want.

Agreed, I don't recall many deadline trades being contingent on a UFA signing an extension, you roll the dice with UFAs, otherwise just pay the premium for players with time left on their contracts.

Just a 2-3 years back a lot of smart hockey people thought Mrazek was going to be an elite goalie. A lot of difference a couple of years make.
