I like the completely forgotten about Even McEneny. He was going to be the next depth guy for Van. Since he was inured. No one talks about him. He had a better scoring rate then Holm did. - manvanfan
I did forget about him, but I still cant say that I expect him to amount to be much of a regular, which is where I would possibly want a Tanev partner for |

I dont watch many prospects but I'd wager our 2018 pick or Brisebois. Pending trades, I just dont seem room for full time spots before then (I also dont really consider Holm a prospect given his age and experience) - WhiteLie
I expect Benning to try to get Tryamkin back this year or next .
Holm we are all waiting to see how he does.
Very possible 2018 could be if it is high end.
Brisebois and Chatfield are still a bit premature?
I think it will be OJ |

I think he will try too, and if he does I dont think he would require a mentor partner.
I do think it would be very lucky to have the 2018 pick join the team as an 18 or 19 year old, likewise I think Juolevi will take some AHL time next year too. I'm a little reluctant to get my hopes up on a lot of the prospects which is why I think holding onto Tanev for 2 more years just to mentor one of those guys is a waste of a good asset |

Seems to be quite a few "decent" older NCAA college D available. Snag one or two of them. Add in a high end draft pick. Add another free agent D. You can change D pairings pretty quickly.
If Tree is going to come back, it would look better if the D looks depleted so he looks to have a better chance at playing more minutes. |

Just my opinion but I think OJs best learning would come from Tanev. The more time with him the better . Same as last year putting him under Salo's watchful eye |

Penguins GM Jim Rutherford acknowledged to Jonathan Bombulie of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he came into the season hoping to hold onto their first-round pick but that he is open to moving it in advance of the trade deadline. That would be somewhat of a rarity for them as they’ve held one at the draft just once in the past five years. |

The Bruins have Canucks winger Thomas Vanek on their radar, reports Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston. It’s believed that Boston is on the lookout for some depth on the wing and Vanek is the highest-scoring pending UFA that is likely to be moved by the deadline (his 40 points are two higher than Buffalo’s Evander Kane). Vanek carries a $2MM cap hit while the Bruins can add roughly $2.5MM in a full-season cap charge on deadline day, per CapFriendly. |

It might be, but I just dont see it being better than acquiring some good assets.
I see OJ starting in the AHL, and if/when he makes it to the NHL Tanev will likely be injured for a portion, OR he'll be facing tough competition (since thats where Tanev is needed) and struggle. IMO Tanev in his decline is an ideal partner, Tanev is his prime is asking a lot for a rookie |

I think OJ will be a top pairing defenseman after a few seasons. The kid quietly plays a very solid game from beginning to end. I agree Tanev is the best partner for him to develop. I have said before and I say again, keep one of Tanev and Guddy. Trade the other. Tanev gets the biggest return, but with him and Edler we have 2 guys that can anchor a pairing. With Guddy, you have to play him with Edler to be effective, but still gives us a good top pairing. |

What are their needs and what do we have that they would express the slightest interest in? |

I know, i just wonder what it is. would it be a 3rd like last year, or because of improved play could he get a little more? He has shown with us he can move up and down the line and produce offensively. |

You know how Bob Mckenzie said that 5 minutes to 3 he's a 4th or 5th round pick for someone. I don't really see it that way.
On TSN's on trade bait list he's tied with Kane and Hoffman in points. He has a salary half as much as both of them. They want 1st, roster player and a prospect for both Kane and Hoffman. Same with Nash and Patches.
Maroon and Grabner should be same cost range as Vanek. IMO.
If the teams aren't going to pay the prices for guys like Hoffman, Kane and Patches they will be after the secondary bunch. |
