Gudbranson 3 years x 4 million. There are no clauses.
4.4 next season. 4.6 the season after, 3 million in the final season. 4 mill AAV

Nick Holden is pretty trash. I can't believe he fetched a third.
- Codes1087

rangers only paid a 4th for him.

seems like an overpayment by the bruins for trash.

wow. not terrible. still wouldn't want it. and still don't understand why you guys wouldn't take a couple mid-picks for him.

benning was probably able to leverage the brendan smith debacle in NY. prices for bad dmen coming down a little.

I am going to try and not be dramatic about this, as everyone already knows how I feel about Guddy. It is about 1.5-2 million AAV more than I would price him, but.. "it is what it is"

More than he should, but not a drain on our cap. Hopefully not NTC or NMC in there at all

Since he last came back from injury he has been better. He has also been doing quite well with Edler. They seem to complement each others games well. Eder not needing to be physical has helped him as well.

Don’t like the player but the term isn’t bad really, won’t hurt your team.

Given the speculation of 5x5, I am happy its not what was being rumored. However, the team is still at its worst when he is on the ice, statistically speaking (or analytically for all you intangible/toughness lovers). I would still prefer to trade him for a bag of pucks whenever possible. Hype men is overrated

It is a drain on the cap when you consider Benning is continually overpaying bottom guys to play for the Canucks. Sutter, Eriksson and now Gudbranson are all overpaid. That's about 10 million worth that you're paying 14 million dollars.

If they trade Tanev for a bundle I'll be happier #rebuild

Same, I am hoping this is a precursor to another move. So far, the guy they use in the bottom pairing got $4m and another that gets $2.8 is routinely a scratch, which doesnt sit well with me. They will essentially be bringing back the entire defense, which has been dreadful and not improving

BUT I will be patient until training camp to see how the backend unfolds, there is TDL and the draft where changes can be made

lol...true. It's going to cost them in the playoffs too.
- LordHumungous

Marleau instead of D. Bobcock's man crush.

This is what happens when you hire a top coach at the beginning of a rebuild. He refuses to be patient because he thinks he can do it all right away with just a little more scoring and puts constant pressure on the GM to take short cuts.

Your value of a lot of evaluations is a little off what most would call the "standard".

Im not being mean or anything just pointing out you seem to have a different standard.

Not terrible compared to what was speculated, but still would have rather moved him. Oh well.

JB did good on the contract all things considered! Shorter term, not a crazy cap hit, and no clauses!

Oh yeah, I don’t think he’s a useful player at all but same thing considering what the talk was of what he could fetch etc it’s not that horrible and the term only being 3 years helps.

Solid signing . Good money and term. Don’t know how anyone could complain about this.

Now to trade Tanev...

benning signing badbranson to 4 years and 4.25m instead of trading him to the leafs for a 1st and marner will sink us.

Just waiting for the Leaf's counter offer of Bustan Matthews and a 1st.

that's fine. I have a certain type of specific defensemen I really don't care for, and it really hasn't changed since we had "boom boom Bieksa".

Its a small sample size, but I will be less critical of the deal if they continue to use him like a top defenseman like they have the past couple weeks. At least they would be getting their money's worth from it

I am going to try and see the silver linings in it. It's not the worst contract out there.
