If Mrazek is available for a 3rd, you pull that trigger.

I think they'll find someone cheaper.

We have picks. A third for an emergency NHL-ready goalie is right about what I imagine the cost is. Most likely it's more expensive since Neuvirth has gone down.

Penguins are the hottest team in the league probably right behind are the Devils. Malkin is playing out of his mind right now.

- Pixote Andolini

The Devils have a tough 5 game western swing in March. Hexy will get another goalie, I just don't think he likes Mrazek.

Devils win in OT.

Ward didn't handle the Hall shot cleanly and then rebound poked between his legs.

Two seasons from now is when I think I will consider them a legitimate cup contender.
- MBFlyerfan

Probably right.

What I will say is this. Despite the current goalie issues, the team is still killing it right now. 6 0 and 1 in their last 7 and the loss was after the return from a trip west. It's shaping up that we have two solid forward lines and a killer top line.
The d is getting it done and we have a top pair that is gold imo.

Once the dead weight goes and is replaced by the likes of morin sanheim Myers rubstov hart frost etc, and a few more tweaks are made, were on our way.

TBH, I'm pleased with the development of the team. Get into the playoffs this year and start the climb to contention.

I’ll be thrilled with the playoffs with the likes of Patrick, konecny, Provorov, Laughton, etc getting a taste of it playing major roles

Pittsburgh’s not going anywhere. Better to gain separation from the likes of Columbus, Carolina, etc

To me, that's the real goal this year. Make the dance in the tough div, and in a top 3 seed. Of ever they could win a round, even better. Progress from there.

My personal feeling is that Pitt is going to take the div. maybe we can catch wash for second.

No need to kill yourself over the backup goalies. It'll all be okay
- YuenglingJagr

This thought that giving up a single mid round pick to address the dire goalie situation is "killing yourself" or mortgaging the future is utterly absurd imo.

You want Hextall to walk in that room and say "Hey, sorry G, Coots, Ghost, Provy, TK. You guys have been playing your asses off but, uh, the goalies are hurt so, uh, just be sure to do the same stuff next year, ok?"

Right. Besides does anyone want neuvirth in any capacity back with the flyers next year? Maybe we can address it now

To me a mid round pick is a 4-5th rounder. I don't think anyone would have a problem with that.

With the amount of picks we have this draft, I'd be ok with a 4th or 5th.

With 2 first rounders I honestly would be okay with up to a third for a rfa. We can always recoup a 4th or 5th back from them. If it's a ufa especially a career back up a 5th is all your getting or Dustin tokarski

I like that matchup. We 'll see what the Caps can do to add to the D core losing Schmidt and Shattenkirk makes them a little thin.

on a crazy note-

I have been hinting at this but Lethera is playing good hockey. He gets on the puck, wins most 1on1 battles and even wins a couple of 1on2.

I think if Weise can play with an edge, yes I mean drop the gloves a little more, hit harder, he is an upgrade over Leir.

I also hope Flip gets some confidence from the game he played today, if he does, then I could trust him more and it would be good for the team.

there I said it.
