Are the Flyers going to go with Lyon for 5 weeks?

I'll re-post what I posted earlier today.

I think one of the keys in a cap era is to continue the flow of prospects as best you can. Prospects are just that until they make it to the NHL and contribute. I don't see having an excess of either quality prospects or an excess of draft picks themselves as a valid reason to overpay for a rental player at this point of the Flyers team development.

I would hope not, however the comments Hexy made last week albeit it was before the Neuvy injury, indicated he was happy with his team. So until he makes a move I have to assume that would be his plan according to his comments. Drafting players are obviously a crucial part in the development of a team as a whole on multiple levels both at the NHL and AHL level, but I'm comfortable with where the Flyers are at in that regard. They could afford to give up a 2nd or a 3rd and be totally fine. I do get where you are coming from though.

I like Raanta but does Arizona really want to move him? I'm sure they'd like to find some level of stability at the position and I don't think they have much on the depth chart behind him.

Does Raanta himself really want to stay with ARZ? Hes a soon to be UFA and could walk this offseason.

Hextall is never going to come out and say he needs to make a trade. I never read too much into a GM publicly discussing the state of their roster, especially around the deadline.

Raanta could be the best option out of the bunch. He has played well this season behind an Arizona team that is terrible. That obviously shows though that he is a very capable starter in this league. I feel like Arizona would want a 1st for him and If I'm Hexy I wouldn't be on board with that. If he could be had for a 2nd I would make the trade.

Good point. I wouldn't blame anyone for walking away from that train wreck franchise.

It probably depends on how sold he is on the effectiveness of the Coyotes rebuild. He would be the guaranteed starter there versus potentially a back up on another team so that could sway his decision making.

Certainly giving up a 2nd or 3rd round pick isn't going to wreck the franchise. I want the Flyers to use assets like that to improve the future if they're going to use them and not for playoff rentals. They aren't in that position yet in my opinion. They have to make some kind of move. Hextall is calculated and isn't going to make a rush decision. I think patience is running thin for a lot of people where Hextall is concerned.

Im not him but i can see players not buying into the rebuild based on the organization giving up on Duclair already and with small rumblings of Domi being available. But it is a good point about being the for sure starter there vs back up here. Who knows, he’s 28 and if we can get rid of Neuvy, a platoon of Elliott / Raanta before the holy Hart arrives could be a good segue.

The Yotes franchise is a mess, hard to tell what direction they are really going in. Raanta and Elliot would be ideal until Hart is ready both are very solid. I think the Flyers have to move on from Neuvirth after this season, he hasn't shown he can stay healthy for any sort of prolonged period of time since he's been here. It kinda sucks as he seems like a good guy and good teammate and is certainly capable of stealing games for the team when he is on his game but it is what it is at this point.

Domi is available too?

I would think long and hard about a Domi/Raanta trade. I could see Domi/Patrick/Simmonds being a pain to play against.

If Domi is capable of playing the PK too even better.

They will definitely want a 1st rounder for Domi I doubt Hexy pays that price. I would be on board though. Domi is going to be a very good player in this league and the Flyers offensive depth for the stretch drive and playoffs would be arguably top 3 in the conference if they acquired him.

Friedman made a small mention of it in his 31 thoughts piece. But he’s the type of forward whose age fits with our team for the now and future. The type of forward you trade a D prospect for. I’m not saying go ahead and offer one of Morin or Sanheim but I think that’s what ARZ would want. Or one of our 1sts. Domi is struggling this year and really since his hot rookie year. Not sure where his value is in all honesty.

I love domi and he is a flyers fan at least that how he grew up. He's having a down year but I still think the price would be high for raanta and domi I would say the st Louis pick (which looks like it may be higher than ours) and a descent prospect at minimum. Prospect could be a goalie like stoly or a guy like Allison. I don't think it would be cheap

One of our top 4 defenseman? No thanks. I'm actually okay with amac surviving the next 2 years in Orange and black

A Mac is here to stay can't see the Flyers trading him as of yet. Maybe next season but they are going to have to retain some cap space I would assume. Honestly I don't mind the way A Mac has played this season more often than not he's been pretty solid. It's more Gudas and Manning I've had an issue with.

If it happened to be the STL 1st and Allison for those two I would do the deal. Would really benefit the Flyers now and in the long term

I would float Rubstov and see where that gets them. I wouldn't be willing to add much more though.

Flyers are going to have to create some space for next season on the defense for some youngsters to come in. It will be interesting to see what they do.

I wouldn't. Very deep draft especially at defense. Allison by all means looks like he can be our next Wayne simmonds. A top pairing d man and Wayne Simmonds is > max domi. Even with all my love for domi. Lower 1st and stoly ? Probably gets it done for me. Or if I could give them a lesser prospect or bottom 6 roster player.

Manning makes every defensive partner look bad! His partners are always trying to cover their own responsibilities and his gaffes!

Yeah they have to do something that is for sure. I would trade Gudas as I think Morin could replace what he brings , and if Manning isn't resigned that could be the spot for Sanheim. Who knows who Hextall favors though out of Gudas, AMac or Manning. You would think at least 2 of those 3 won't be here to start next season.
