Exactly what I thought. If you're going to accuse someone of something then you should be prepared to back it up. I'm aware of the Flyers draft history. I'm also aware of how many draft picks the Flyers traded away year after year in a effort to win now lessening the odds of the Flyers hitting on a player drafted with a lower pick. I'm also aware of how many really good players were picked in the 3rd round by other teams. - MJL

Trade the freaking THIRD ROUND PICK for MRAZEK.
Then trade Neuvy and sign MRAZEK to be the 1b for 2 years.
HOW HARD IS IT? - dragonoffrost
He's got a 4M cap hit now. What would you pay him for the 2 years? |

Like I said, I'm against using an asset such as a 3rd round pick for a rental. If they see Mzarek as a player they can re-sign and use as a bridge for a few years to hopefully get a young player such as Hart ready, then I'm okay with that. That brings some other questions into the mix though. - MJL
but they can also flip his rights at the end of the season. the other questions would what to do with Nuevy and Elliot, one stays and one goes. Either cotract shouldnt be hard to move or buy out or even bury in the AHL. Heck just put Nuevy on the IR who will notice

Yeah. Really it’s not that hard. You can even buyout neuvirth. No one will trade for him and you dont want him on the phantoms with hart and Stolarz around
A 3rd round pick is cheap for a guy capable of a 1B role. Have to wonder why Detroit would be willing to part with him so easily if the rumored 3rd is true |

Or trade Mrazek in the off-season as a RFA.
I'm guessing Hextall doesn't like him or a deal would be done already. - hereticpride
trade Neuvy and 4th for Mrazek |

Look at our cap situation even if it don't go up it's not going to kill them. For %$^%$&$&$ SAKE. I think I need my blood pressure meds again. Neuvy is garbage he needs to be fired into the sun. I don't even care if they don't resign Mrazek really. I just want 2 stable goalies for the next 5 weeks which we don't have.
You can't call Tokarski up right now. He needs to be in Lehigh's net for the next few weeks as they are in the playoff push also. And that experience will be great for the prospects.
And no way to I roll with Lyon/Muse here and Tokarsi/Dekanich in LHV. |

Knowing the way Hexy covets draft picks, since Mrazek is an RFA, maybe he wants a sense of Mrazek contract requests. IIRC, when they traded for Biron. I thought he was going to be a RFA or even a UFA, but they traded for him with the new contract pretty much already hammered out.

Does anyone know if the NHL fixed the Patrick Kane loophole in the salary cap? You know, the one where a team can LTIR a player, add an equal salary, then put the LTIR'd player back on the roster once the playoffs start, because there is no salary cap in the playoffs.
Because I could totally see the Flyers doing that with Elliott were he able to play come playoff time (assuming the Flyers do indeed make the playoffs). |

Detroit is in a terrible spot cap wise and probably can't even afford to qualify him at the end of the season. They pretty much have to make a deal.

Brassard with the Sens intrigues me, really good player and can score. Drop Flip and bring him in. Sens thinking they can get a 1st plus plus, Brassard only has 1 year left on his contract, no way he is worth that, maybe we can trade them our whole fourth line for Brassard?
or maybe they will take a 3rd for him |

They could flip him but they'll likely have to qualify him and that could be risky. I think you should only go after Mzarek if you intend to keep him down the line. There are many ways that they can move Neuvirth but all will likely contain some kind of cap penalty. None of it is the end of the world.

Still in effect. Cap space is not an issue for this season for the Flyers. They have plenty. |

They don't need cap space to qualify him. They could easily do so and then trade him at the draft if they wanted to.

Mrazek....would be fine at a third rd pick. If he plays well you can tender him. Considering the Flyers predicament....pretty safe to say they need to address problem.
