You are always right, my bad for even bothering to have a discussion with you. It's pretty much like playing chess with a pigeon. The pigeon always just declares himself the winner, craps all over the board and waddles off happily.
Yup, a true hoot!
I eagerly await your response, because just as you are never wrong, I know you always must get the last word in too.
Have a great day! - BiggE
I don't need to give a response. Why do you feel the need to take a reasonable hockey discussion in this direction repeatedly? Nobody is forcing you to reply to my posts or to discuss anything with me if you don't like my opinions.

Nothing wrong with using a draft pick to make a move to improve the team for the future. I don't want them to use a significant draft pick for a playoff rental. - MJL
on the surface I agree but a 3rd may or may not be significant, it only has a 30% chance of playing 100 NHL games. Plus the Flyers are stacked with prospects and picks.
Then they can replace that pick other ways. If Nuevy can go, then you hold most likley, if not you get the best deal possible and pull the trigger.
the down side of not doing it is greater than the cost of the upside.

I get the hype for Carter Hart and hope he reaches his potential, but there is no way Hexy shouldnt try to improve the goalie situation. Its pretty apparent expecting the first 2 goalies in the organization to play 50 games in a regular season plus playoffs is unrealistic.
Expecting G and Voracek to maintain this production 2 or 3 years down the line is risky. Sure, the hope is Patrick, Konency and others will shoulder more of the load.
If the cost isnt prohibitive and Hexy can get a 27 yr old goalie with a decent amount of NHL experience, I think he has to do it. Neuvy is just too brittle. There is too much of an injury history to suggest this wont continue in the future. |

Part of the equation is that you can likely get a competent backup NHL goaltender for less than a 3rd round pick.

Matter of opinion and really ridiculous. I give my opinions the same as anyone else. No reason to clog up the board with this nonsense. |

Feel free to provide the link to this conversation and how I just stuck with Gostisbehere. You're full of it.
How many times the Flyers have hit on a 3rd round pick in the past is irrelevant. If you want to debate my opinion then do so but don't throw out ridiculous claims. - MJL
I got far better things to do on my off day than to dig in week old archived conversations on this site proving my point lol. Just like I said to you about the list of underwhelming players who were taken in 3rd round for a decade + , look it up yourself |

Trade a 3rd for a goalie, but get a 4th back by moving Manning. Sanheim could easily take his spot on the third pairing, and he could also help the god awful 2nd PP unit by taking Filppula's position.
Time to take the lid off, Ron. The meal is ready to serve.

all for it, if they can get one for a 4th then go for it. If they feel Elliot even if he returns will not be on his game, then I see why they would use a higher pick to get a better goalie.
From what I hear this kid Mazerk has a lot to prove. He had a good year, then got cocky last season and they say he came in humble and ready to go this season. He will be playing for a contract, he is only 26 so I am sure he sees himself as having his best seasons ahead of him

Exactly what I thought. If you're going to accuse someone of something then you should be prepared to back it up. I'm aware of the Flyers draft history. I'm also aware of how many draft picks the Flyers traded away year after year in a effort to win now lessening the odds of the Flyers hitting on a player drafted with a lower pick. I'm also aware of how many really good players were picked in the 3rd round by other teams.

Like I said, I'm against using an asset such as a 3rd round pick for a rental. If they see Mzarek as a player they can re-sign and use as a bridge for a few years to hopefully get a young player such as Hart ready, then I'm okay with that. That brings some other questions into the mix though.

Trade the freaking THIRD ROUND PICK for MRAZEK.
Then trade Neuvy and sign MRAZEK to be the 1b for 2 years.
HOW HARD IS IT? |

Or trade Mrazek in the off-season as a RFA.
I'm guessing Hextall doesn't like him or a deal would be done already. |

Its really hard... as posted above, Hextall is Gollum, and the draft picks are his Precious. Thats how hard it is.
I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, though. Alex Lyon is going to be fine. Just fine. He'll use that Yale education of his to detect where all the pucks are coming from all the time. Come end of June, the Stanley Cup will be Lyon in our arms. |
