I agree. Lyon did not look good in earlier starts but he played really well yesterday. - MJL
Agree - he didn't look good at all in his other games (imho) but yesterday he was pretty good. |

LOL, I'll wait til I actually see Stolarz play again before I worry about finding room for him to move up. He hasn't exactly lit it up in his minor league career either. - BiggE
I saw someone speculate that he could be offered in a bigger deal to acquire a younger player. Like a mrazek anthanasiou for stolarz and a 2nd type deal. But I don't see it |

I also think it's fine to give Lyon a couple of starts this week and see how he performs. What's the point of drafting & signing goalie prospects if you won't give them a chance when the veterans get injured. - Feanor
The good news is MTL is the next game, using Lyon there is ok, what do they do after that? You have to have 2 tenders and they both cant be AHLers
on the good side, the CAP situation is in good shape, Worse case Neuvy is a 2.5 mil risk

Yeah, I don't see that happening either.
If Colorado loses their next game in regulation, could see it being Bernier.

LOL, so you're saying there is no chance for Stolarz to win a roster spot next season if there is an opening?

FYI, if Neuvirth is bought out after this season, the cap penalties are:
18-19: 1 million
19-20: 750K |

No chance? Of course not, but very slim, IMO.
You didn't want to give up anything of significance to improve this team for the playoff drive so I guess you think that there is no chance that the Flyers can win the Cup this year. Not a slim chance or even a very slim chance, but none whatsovever.
Is that what you believe? LOL. |

Very true, the options are good for whatever wants to do. The big difference in this franchise since Hextall took over and drafting of course |

The flyers have to make some organizational decisions this off season. Among them is Morin sanheim manning and than stoly Lyons hart sandstrom Elliot neuvy. Our forwards is a natural progression to me as we have guys leaving and guys coming

He's played 1 game for them this season and they have another backup signed for next year. They wouldn't want to lose him for nothing. |

I think Hexy should pull the trigger sooner then later to allow the new goalie to settle in a bit. |

I think the goalies, at least, will shake themselves out.
Elliott will be with the Flyers
Neuvirth or another veteran NHL goalie will be with him.
Stolarz or Lyon will be with Hart in LVH, the other will likely be moved or just not re-signed in the case that Stolarz shows lingering effects from the injury and struggles.
Sandstrom, as Bill has predicted previously, probably plays one more year in Europe.
The D is trickier. I actually think that Manning or a player comparable to him gets re-signed to fill the 7th spot. That leaves one spot for 2 players (Sanheim & Morin) as I think Myers, when you factor in the time he has missed this year, at least starts 18-19 at LHV. My best guess is that one of Hagg/Gudas is traded at the draft for either a young forward or to move up in the first round.
OTOH, I could be wrong about all of the above, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Every conversation I've seen from the organization mentions stoly way before lyons. Lyons I think would have to play his way into being above him over this back stretch. As far as sandstrom I don't know what the best case for him is. I thought Bill said 1 more year was this year not next year. I think he has to he signed by end of next year to elc or he's a free agent as well.
As far as defense Morin injury doesn't help his case. I don't like him or sanheim being the 7th. Sanheim right now is playing lights out in the A and clearly was already ahead of Morin from the organization's standpoint. I don't see us rolling 6 defenseman with 2 rookies I see it as 1 rookie is joining next year and maybe alt is your 7th. Like you said though we could both be wrong |

Nice job, I think Morin is the odd man out actually. Hexy didnt draft him, the organization at this point thinks Hagg is better and with his physical attributes and time in the AHL his trade value should be very solid. Myers being a RH dmen eventually takes Gudas spot. Sanheim will still be very good.

Morin could be the odd man out, but I think his ceiling is higher than Hagg's and he will be a better penalty killer than Hagg and a much more intimidating force on the ice. But who really knows what Hextall is thinking, he plays his cards very close to the vest.

The chances of the Flyers winning the Cup are slim. I don't think they are a legit contender. I'm glad you mentioned that though because it segue's perfectly to illustrate my reasoning as to why I don't think the Flyers should give up a significant future asset to acquire a goaltender. |
