I don't expect a trade, but if Bergevin really thinks it's better to keep Pacioretty around, he's clearly clueless (I know, it goes without saying)

The captain has checked out already. There is no turning back for him.

I don't expect anything significant on deadline day, I think draft time... even then, I don't expect huge changes.

Well, at some point when you have 0 good centres and 8 "hard to spare" wingers you have to sacrifice 1 or 2...
- BashCH

Byron isn't getting you poop!

That is why Pacioretty will be traded in the offseason. But doubt much happens of significance at the deadline

Agree on Byron. He's worth more to this team than what he would most likely get on the market.

But guys like Galchenyuk or even Drouin could be on the move. Even if Pacioretty might be the safest bet to go and the best option out of those guys.

They should wait after the season.
Then fire MB and all his boys club, and the entire scouting dptm (pro et amateur), and the entire Laval cast and crue.
Then trade every so called 'leader' this team is supposed to have, starting with the goalie and the captain. And get rid of the scrap at the blue line (Benn, Schlemco, Morrow...)
And then lower the ticket price by 25% until they have a decent team.

Now we all agree none of this will happen.

That would be an admission of failure.

Will never happen, not with this GM.

Then Habs should get lots of picks and prospects but it still won't happen.

They only like to trade top pairing guys...

Anyway Montreal is two trades away from having an AHL top 6.

I fully expect both 14 and 67 to be traded, if they are not i'll be chocked

However, I'm afraid of the return...

Selling your best goal scorer when his value is at its lowest is the best way to start a rebuild.

At his age and his skill level he needs another year to see what he can bring.

Would be selling pretty low right now if you did bounce him

I don't think his value is as low as you think. I don't think GMS forgot about the last 5 years like you did.

I would guess (while highly educated one), that a GM will try to give up as little as possible to acquire a desired player.

I could be wrong but that's highly unlikely and uncharacteristic.

2 years left is better than 1 year left... to me we need to be able to sell the 2 cup run thing and how he gonna be great on a secondary role, see Phil kessel
