It wouldn't they just go to contenders and favorite teams

Would be bullpoop

If they put in rookie deal caps like they have now, it would really tilt it towards the big market and good teams, IMO, but if they got rid of the rookie deal cap, that would make things VERY interesting with the salary cap.

To me, it seemed clear while watching the entirety of the Ottawa game that the 2 games prior were a mirage likely based on adrenaline and the team was going to be a range of bad to really bad the rest of the season.

The only things to look forward to are the returns on the obvious trade candidates and seeing how the kids playing in their place perform, if they don't just leave them buried in Rochester, which they may well do.

Id leave them in Rochester, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Botts is a buyer for Rochester, while being a seller for the Sabres

Agreed, but would he need to be a buyer if they send guys like Nelson and Falk down along with Baptiste?

If I were him, I would be looking to take back UFA cap dumps back from other teams in trades to both enhance the return and help fill out the NHL roster to allow guys like the three above to go back down to Rochester.

If they got rid of the draft but left the salary cap and guaranteed contracts, the talent would be forced to spread out just like it is now. Could do something along the lines of every team can offer sheet any player and the player can decide where to go but the selected team would have to pay the player the highest offer even if it wasnt their own (or a percentege of the highest offer.) it would make for some crazy offseasons thats for sure.

By that theory he would have never gone to chicago, never won a cup, and still playing for his hometown favorite team.

I'm a little concerned that he's too serious about Rochester. Nelson is better served by staying in the NHL. Baptiste is an older prospect now, time to find out if he can stick in the NHL. I'm not saying call up everyone, but get an extended look at one forward, and Baptiste seems to be their favorite (above Fasching, Bailey, and Smith).

realistically, if Chicago is out of the playoffs come trade deadline, and it's looking like that may be the case, what would it take to get Pat Kane?

Reinhart, a 1st and ROR?

He said ditch the draft entirely. Not sure what the alternate would be that would be fair to all teams.
- kingcong39

Seven worst teams get 2 balls to go into the lottery bubble machine, teams 8-15 get 1 ball. First ball to come up gets pick #1, then the next team that gets selected gets pick #2, do this until all 15 non-playoff teams have their order.

Apparently, the Red Wings offered the Flyers Mrazek, and asked for only a 3rd rounder in return. The Flyers said nope.

We're riding the Lehner Tankmobile until the end.

The cap hit would be just about even between Kane and ROR/Reinhart.

That's why that Flyers deal, if there is one being discussed, has to be larger than just a goaltender, if a goaltender is even being discussed at all.

From Harrington today:

...even your rookie general manager -- who certainly bears heavy responsibility for this disaster -- has clearly moved past his breaking point.

KeyBank Center was deathly quiet and the Sabres were slowly plodding down the ice, fumbling the puck all the way, late in the second period Saturday afternoon.

Just then, GM Jason Botterill made a long-overdue statement on behalf of the paying customers. The denizens atop the 300 level and the residents of the press box heard a yell. Then the box shook with the slam of a door. It was the mild-mannered GM, pounding the entrance closed to his suite and heading down the hall to blow off some steam.

My division sucks, I forgot to set my roster 2 weeks in a row about 5 weeks in, so I gave up, and somehow I'm still 10-9 and have 130 point lead this week.
