antipin is turning the corner as well

I should have mentioned that

- homiedclown

I like Antipin, Scandella is growing on me. I would trade Risto if the right offer came along. Especially if we get the #1 pick

It took a while but he has shown he can play in the NHL and earn NHL money. I think he would be making a mistake to go back, unless he’s changed his mind about wanting it.

I could see it going either way. He had a tough year. If this defense returns (+Guhle -Gorges), next year is going to be another tough one.

I’d give him beaulieu’s minutes and send that guy packing.

McJesus has two goals today. That was the lottery we needed to win. No offense to Jack.

McDavid playing with better players than Jack is

Basically this proves not one person can change a franchise if they don't have a good supporting cast.

Those LeSean McCoy rumors are heating up now ha He would be a perfect fit for the Giants though

So 21,20 , 2nd and LeSean McCoy for 2nd overall

Do it then

I think Chia hurt the Oilers worse than GMTM hurt us. It's sad to think about.

Is that why the oilers are so much better than us? People need to get past this buffaluck bull poop.

Both teams are terrible and it has nothing to do with that lottery, it was everything else.

The dumb trades, signings and lack of foresight.

I never said they were better as a team. McDavid is the better player. Fact. Does that mean the Sabres would be good with the inept GMing they have had? Probably not.

Then how is that the lottery we needed to win?

If anything we lost whatever GM lottery we were apart of years ago. Thats the lottery you need to win (sorta)

For all we know the franchise could have been drastically different. With McDavid you might have Babcock and Stamkos

Disagree, you'd still have TM. Babs would still be more interested in the shanaplan and everyone said from day 1 that Stamkos' first choice was to stay in Tampa.

Lottery wins don't make or break franchises, smart gms/idiot gms do.

Yeah and how many of Crosby and Malkins prime years were waste due to management incompetence?

Lottery luck is such a cop out of an answer.

Massive overpayment.

Ok, maybe not massive, but definitely an overpayment.

I would do 20, 21 and next year's conditional first(top 10 protected).

I usually agree with you 365 , but to say the lottery losses have nothing to do with losing is wrong.

It may not have a lot to do with it, but failing to win the lottery affected the team and fans already fragile psyche.

How could mcdavid over eichel not get us a few more wins. Or even free agents or coaches to sign here?

all right, guys (and gals, where ever you are)...what's up?...been off the grid for a bit, skipped through a bunch of posts...saw the Scandella thing, very interesting, especially that question "do you really think so?"...say what you will, but the guy brings it every minute of every game...

saw some Botterill inferences, not sure what happened...did he blow up or something like that....

sincerely,

an inquiring mind

Its not that having a guy like Mcdavid doesnt have an impact, it absolutely does, but he phrased the post as "thats the lottery we needed to win".

I just can't look at this team right now and say "yeah because we wound up with Eichel, a #1 centre instead of mcdavid, a better #1 centre, that's where it went wrong".

As for your last point, Mcdavid couldn't bring babcock to edmonton, nor was he going to. He liked the Shanaplan more than any one player because he gets it. The team is more than the one guy, the plan is far more important than the lottery win.

McDavid may attract free agents, but it doesn't mean anything if the guy in charge has no idea which free agents to go after, see lucic, milan. or the other horrid trades Chiarelli has made.

McDavid can only do so much and only on the ice. He can't stop an idiot from doing idiot things because he's an idiot(chiarelli).

Yeah, I guess he blew up big time. Screamed so loud fans in 300 level heard it, slammed his door on the way out loud enough to hear and went storming down to his office from the press box.
