Good Q - the Sens have the option to retain the pick if it's top 10
If it's not top 10 then they don't have option, Avs get pick and Sens will have their own 2019

Fair points and the Sens fan should be furious - it's the apathy that's pissing me off.

There is no ***king point for this team to finish outside the bottom 4 in the standings. If they finish let's say 5th or 6th last. Then a team outside that group wins a spot in the top 3, the Sens are not getting Zadina, Boqvist, Tkachuk, AS.

Yes - bouchard, Hughes look good on D but the Sens did sh*t with Zibanejad 6th overall (yes Brassard is good but not a star) same with Cowen 9th overall, Ceci, Lazar - the list goes on and on.

Yes I like the picks with Dorion - Brown (11) Chabot (18) White (21) but they still haven't proven themselves in the NHL. We always talk about what COULD be, making the playoffs, and that's exactly what this two faced owner will get - making the playoffs to win a round or 2. Last year EVERYTHING went right. This team got out everything the needed - heck even bobby ryan was scoring multiple game winners and looking like he did in Anaheim with Getzlaf and Perry.

The worst case is this (well actually it's if they miss the playoffs AND outside top 10 giving Avs pick). There is no way I'm staying quiet until now and the deadline. I'm hitting up social media and the stations because it's about time fans fired back at this owner and they way they pretend that everything is alright

Beyond being a ridiculously over-the-top statement, the only way to guarantee a top-5 pick is to finish in 30th or 31st place in the league... and even then you might not pick higher than 4th. As long as they pick in the top 8 or 9, they should pull a pretty nice player, even if it's someone like Bouchard, Dobson, or Wahlstrom. Regardless, outside of Dahlin there aren't really any franchise-changing players available, so I'm not sure why there's an arbitrary line being drawn at #5.
