He wants a winner. Always has. People strawman him with the Robbie Earl thing, but all he wanted them to do was play him (and other AHL guys like Williams and Tlusty) and trade Poni/Antropov/Stajan etc. so they could tank and get top picks.


How is it any different then people wanting Johnsson or The Goat or any other prospect on the Marlies a chance? Hindsight. People want to trade JVR because of Bracco. If/when he becomes a nothing player, will people strawman them with that? No. Because they just need a villain...and UG is an easy target.

Not that I think Soshnikov is a huge loss. But this is the reason that you don't sign 4th line players like Matt Martin to 4 year contracts.

He should have been the odd man out. But you can't just keep sending these veteran players down to the minors and hope that others will sign with you later when you need them. Guys like Martin shouldn't be given more then 2 years max.

Steen was a Leaf so long ago it seems - I'm pretty sure he played with Sittler.

The year Steen was traded he had 2G and 2A in 20 games. He had is chance as a Leaf and he threw it away - frank him.
