Get it done :

TO NY : 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Gourde, Koekkoek.

TO TB : McDonagh (NY retains no salary).

In your opinions, what are the chances of TBay sending Sergachev the other way?
- Tonybere

Joe Smith (Tampa writer) asked Yzerman if Point or Sergachev were available for a trade (McDonagh/Karlsson). His response, "We would want to add to our team, not go sideways."

So that's a no from the guy pulling the strings

I highly doubt it, and neither will they.

That's the only way Tampa lands him

The market won't be set by you, OR the Rangers.

It will be set by what the buyers are willing to pay.

In other words, you will take Bozek and, uh, Leivo and a 5th for McDonagh.

I guess this all depends on intent. As a player for this years run? Sure, Tampa, but I think McDonagh is the perfect fit for the Oilers.

So, our #1 defenseman for a soft, under-sized center that scores about 20 points more, but misses significant time, for an extra $1.3M a year?
I say pass.

Duh. He must have been joking.

Sergachev ++ would not be a stretch for McDonagh.

Sergachev is playing VERY protected minutes and they are using him less and less. He is going to be a very good player, but none of his stats suggest that the offensive numbers he put up at the start of the year will continue. If I was both sides I would look at this.

Tampa won’t/shouldn’t move Point in this deal. He’s going to be a stud.

Too bad Johnson is a little too old. With the emergence of Point, I bet that Tampa would be happy to shed Tyler’s salary.

sergachev ++??????

are you insane. tampa wouldn't even do that as a straight up deal, they certainly wouldn't add multiple pieces.

I'm confused with Tanner's post. He says rebuilds can go fast so he thinks Rangers should hold on to him potentially. But then says the timeline and situation doesn't seem to fit with the Leafs who's rebuild is already well on the way. I think there's a little bit of contradiction going on here unless I'm reading into this wrong.
He is also exactly what the Leafs need on the back end. A solid two way defenseman that you can put out in pretty much any situation and is a vet that hasn't hit his thirties yet. The sound of a Gardiner McDonagh combination or Riley McDonagh combination makes too much sense. Although I think Gardiners out the door if McDonagh comes in.

Karlsson for Sergachev would not be a sideways move, it would definitely be adding.
