Bill,

What are you thoughts on Al Montoya? Low cost back up option.

- mickel25

I'd rather they go after Tony Montana.

His goal scoring rate certainly isn't. Not without actual PP time. 9 goals and 10 assists are 5v5 out of his 20 points. He has the skills to do it though
- YuenglingJagr

I know it's hard to break up a pp1 that's one the better in the league but with Patrick tk breaking out would moving them in for say coots Jake and letting coots Jake attempt to strengthen pp2 would it help? Coots Jake weal raffl provy? Just idea throwing to expect nothing but young players and buyout candidates anchor pp2 is horrible

Bill,

If Neuvirth goes down with an injury with Elliott on IR, what are the chances we see Carter Hart recalled on an Emergency basis? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Tokarski, Muse are both on minor league deals and would need to be converted to an NHL contract.

Tokarksi is on an NHL contract.

In all seriousness though, this game has the makings of an L. Columbus currently sitting out of a playoff spot, struggling over their last 10 games, it's in Columbus, where the Flyers have not won since I at the time was only married a little over 2 months.

If they get a win I'll be overjoyed, but I'm not feeling confident.

They’re gonna win one there sometime, why not tonight? In fact, losing their last game the way they did along with having 2 days off, should all but guarantee a great effort tonight. I’ve got a feeling they come out fired up and win tonight.

I think there is more room to balance the lineup, even if Hextall won't give prospects like NAK, Lindblom and Vecchione a chance they way the Pens have given one to Aston-Reese.

1st line: Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
2nd line: Raffl-Patrick-Voracek
3rd line: Weal-Laughton-Simmonds
4th line: Leier-Filppula-Weise
Buyout Booth: Lehtera

- Feanor

I’d take Lehtera over Weise but other than that, I like these lines a lot.

LOL

So boys, just go out and uh, you know, play responsibly. That’s all I ask. Oh, and uh, don’t take penalties, yeah, that would be swell too. Now let’s stay calm and focused and get out there and PLAY SAFE!!

I think the Flyers would call up Lindblom if they lost a top 6 winger

I know you're just throwing ideas out there, but I don't want to take Jake off PP1. He leads the league in PP Assists.

I would like to see another person in place of Couts on PP1, but there really isn't an in house option. Maaaybe Laughton, as he's a got a hell of a shot and maybe could score some of those Hartnell/Schenn type goals, but he doesn't even see PP2 time.

Agree.

I actually have a good feeling about tonight. I think it will be a physical game. I see a 3-1 game, maybe an empty netter to make it 4-1.

Flyers need a win to make sure they stay in front of the Devils and keep pace with the Pens and Caps

That's one the reasons I wanted to move him to pp2 think he would stabilize a lot. I also think Patrick can fill coots role. He's a tad bit more creative and going back to his junior highlights has imo a better wrist shot

Lately that pass isn't there as teams drop low on him. If Gostisbehere keeps shooting it could loosen it up a little. Couturier has scored 27 goals. not sure why you would want to replace the teams leading goal scorer.

I agree I wouldn't mind seeing Laughton on 2nd PP but who do you replace. Lately it's been Patrick, Weal, Konecny, Provorov and Filppula.

My thought stemmed from how breaking up the top line helped the team balance the scoring and made us better. I take 2 high end prospects in Patrick and tk and put them with some guys with more experience on pp1 and take 2 vets from pp1 and add them to 2. We could still go back to our original pp1 star lineup if down late in games

the PP isn't generally an area that you look to find scoring balance. You put the best players together to try to get you a goal at the most advantageous time

Really not a fan of Filppula on the pp, nor his late game replacement, Manning. There aren’t many other options, but I think Laughton may be at least a bit of an upgrade over Filppula. He’s stronger on the puck, quicker on his feet and has a better shot.

Thing is PP1 plays about 1:20 to 1:35 of the powerplay depending on if they are keeping the puck in the zone. I want 2nd PP to be decent but I want my top guys out there for majority of the PP.

Also Patrick is a right hand shot. So if you want him to take Couturier's spot then the slot pass would have to come Voracek.

Agree.

I think with such a young unit they like having at least one vet out.

That's my theory.

I guess, but I’d rather have the skill. Plus, while they may be young, Provy plays like a vet and both Laughton and Weal have been pros for quite a while.

I would add raffl to pp2. He's a veteran and has strong puck possession.

Coots = Patrick, Jake = tk, simmer = raffl, g= weal, gost = provy. I know they aren't equivalents but positioning equivalents
