Cool idea.

I'm hoping some day that the cap and the floor are far enough apart to where having an owner who is willing to spend money will be an advantage again. Most owners now are willing to spend at least 90% of the cap. If that ever drops to 80%, it would be huge for the Sabres with Pegula.

- jcragcrumple

They instituted the cap floor(a high one too) around the same time Pegula came into the league. It essentially rendered Pegula useless.

I'm not usually one to cry "poor Buffalo," but it's funny that this team always wanted a cap because we never had wealthy owners, and then the cap comes and we don't want it. It like the lottery changes happening right when we need it.

This board after a loss

I'm really getting sick of the pro-tanking bullpoop on here. We all know we would benefit more from finishing lower to get a higher draft pick. But constantly losing is not beneficial to any current players in the long run...they need to learn how to grow and, eventually, how to consistently win.

Oh, and for those creaming their pants over the tank...1 high draft pick does not automatically guarantee your franchise the playoffs (see, e.g., McDavid, Eichel, etc.).

Too bad we could not go back, let Vanek go to Edmonton and get their next 4 first rounders, use the money saved to re-sign Briere and Drury, expend a couple of the spare firsts to land us some big time D to support Miller. Be we would have won a Cup by 2010

I like seeing the kids play and play well but lets not kid ourselves here. We do not need to finish 7th last. We need to finish in the bottom 3.

The Oilers board is in full-on tank. It is disgusting what that team has done to the rest of the league. They completely (frank)ed anyone who tries to build through top-end talent, and then they keep getting the benefit of that rule change. Honestly, just disgusting

Perfect night for the Sabres.
Played a competitive game
Lost the 4 pointer, could be very valuable at seasons end
Future 4th liners ERod and Scott (frank)ing Wilson scored...we just need Josefson to come back and net some...Could be a nice line next year.
Coyotes won.

Only disappointment was the Oil losing.

Come on Botts, Team did what it needed to...Jack did what was needed, now hold up your end and get some of these players out of here...solidify the stealthy tank..deal ROR (kidding actually) , Kaner, and I wouldn’t mind selling high on Reinhart....playing well for last 15 games after taking a 3 month vacation early on...not my kinda player.

Edit: while it could have been a 4 point swing, it was only 1

I think lehner is going to be wearing the blue and gold thru the rest of the year.

Perfect #stealthtank move.

He has limited value, but he could really help us lock down a bottom 3 finish.

His off season value if any, is still there with being a rfa.
Might be slightly less than the trade deadline.

I actually like him in his interviews, seems like a leader and doesn't hide from a loss or questions.

Needs to make that key save, reminds me of tyrod.
Plays decent then, when we need him most........

I think Lehner is a really athletic (now that he lost some weight) and talented goalie.

That being said he has absolutely no anticipation for plays and that usually leads to him sprawling around. Also he has absolutely no clutch in him, for a tough guy he seems to have nerves of glass.

Compared to 2015: this is double secret tanking

Dare I say, tanking with dignity?

Never, only a certain group of individuals have ever managed to pull that off.

In all seriousness this team is not good enough to compete on any level on a consistent basis so tanking with dignity is a good analogy I believe.
We are giving some of our young talent a moment to shine while not getting blown out 7-2 every night.

100% agreed we win the cup but Chris never wanted to be here it was Danny and we treated him like garbage we went after the wrong girl

But I totally agree we would’ve won the cup that team was stacked

Agreed. Briere was the life and blood of the team. We would have been fine with out Chris. Briere was one of the more clutch players to ever wear the Blue and Gold

I still don’t understand to this day how they could not sign him to the contract just absolutely ridiculous what we could’ve accomplished

And then they think it’s all right to give him the same offer that they said no to Smh

The worst thing i ever heard growing up as a fan was "trust the guy in charge, he must know what he's doing if he got hired to be the GM"

Gorges was one of the best tank commanders. Worst player on a historically bad team two years in a row.

Now hes on the 2nd worst team in the league and regularly gets benched. AND TEAMS WANT TO TRADE FOR HIM???????????
