“You can kind of just feel it in the air when the Rangers and Islanders play,” Barzal said. “I love that kind of feeling. This felt like a playoff game tonight right out of the gate. I love that atmosphere more than I like just playing the Rangers.”

How do the Isles treat each contest as a playoff game, yet the Rangers play like it's pre-season?

I never saw them get 50 shots in a pre-season game

Even when NYR was playing on the top of their game in years past, they ALWAYS get the BEST from opponenets at MSG or on the road. There is something to be said that NYR never gets a team who takes them for granted or overlooks them, simply b/c they are the NYR. Everyone is gunning to beat the Rangers..Makes it very tough to win games when you don't bring your "A" game each and every night.

For now ...we just can't score or keep the puck out of the net no matter how we play

Sums it up. Despite good chances we just can't score. Do like what I've seen from the new kids, let's see if they can keep it up.
Butch pointed out how Hank and the new D are unfamiliar with each other, so that is certainly leading to mis-communication. They'll figure it out by the end of the season.

So, it looks like I picked a good night to take off! I was on the couch, but just decided to watch the Olympics and a couple other shows with the wife. MUCH less stress, you guys should try it!!

BTW, when did I become disabled?!?!? WTF!

Smart move. Wife and I were watching a show on Netflix for a while, so I had the game on the laptop until she went to bed. At the point where the game is on in the background now.

Sorry in advance for the RangerSaver post...
Funny, I didn't even have to read the posts last night to know what everyone was going to say. I read some posts this morning and see the same people that are mad when they don't put in effort are the same people that are mad when they put in effort and don't succeed!
So are these people only happy when they put in 100% effort AND succeed? Gonna be disappointed more times than not with that outlook. Sometimes you win games you shouldn't have won, and other times you lose games you should have won. It happens. If you put up 50 shots on a regular basis, you'll win more times than not. I'll take that kind of effort everyday of the week. Unfortunately, Halak has the Rangers' number.

Its even more sad when you don't know it....
I made a sarcastic joke and instead of picking up on it... it snowballed, so I ran with it.

Should we start a GoFundMe page for you?

Nowhere in Barzal's quote does it say "Weight helped us get up for the game." There were lots of "I's" in his quote. At the NHL level a coach should not need to be a motivator. That's on the players. I'm happy to blame the coach for the system. I blame players for effort and execution.

I can take yelling. I'm a big boy. Just because I disagree with people doesn't mean I don't like them. Unless they (read as Burton) are being a complete bumhole.
